2010 Focus trans noise
Automatic, 55k miles, clean, new trans fluid. Trans makes a whine or growling sound at various speeds and immediately stops when I back off the throttle. Only in 4th gear. Starts up again when power is applied. Note-- do NOT need to be accelerating. Constant speed brings it out, too.
Has been going on for 40k + miles. Delayed getting it in to a dealer because of the hassle we had with my son's 2010 Focus SES, where we had to do the dealership's diagnosing for them.

Here is the best I could get for what I'm hearing while driving. Shifting at lower rpm, you can hear the rumble between gears. Normal or problem?
Photos of my dogbone. Opinions on condition of bushings?

|ranger97||I'll let you know what they add for 2008 - 2011 when it gets here. I wanted to be as up to date on the battery area and transmission mount as I could, though. Not liking Ford's design too much at the moment.|

|ranger97||Thanks, macmogul. Warranty, yes powertrain still left. The mileage right now is 41500|

|ranger97||Yes, I'm going to get the Haynes manual. I didn't find the heat shield to be loose as far as I could tell. The passenger mount seems to be ok. Could not really tell about the drivers side mount. I tried to take some photos of the bushings in the dogbone. At first I thought the forward bushing looked pinched in there, but not sure. Is there a way to upload photos besides using a url or how do I use the url.|

You should get a haynes manual for 00-07 Focus before you go taking things apart...
The body style is different but a good 80% of the cars are identical. The biggest differences are the interior.
Mechanically, about 95% of instructions and photos for the Duratec will be identical to your car.
Also, if you don't know what to look for, it is best to take it to a shop or dealer. It's a 2011, you should still have warranty left on it?

|ranger97||I haven't found the source of the knock, it seems to be present some time but not all the time. I don't think the knock has anything to do with the battery issue.|
