Have you been to another dealer for a second opinion?

|xFOCIx||UNHAPPY. It's been this way since the day I got it new. It's only getting worse. No resolution from dealer in the many times its been taken in.|

|SlickWilly||What do you mean by bumping the key. My 02 F-150 had a long time to start and my 03 did not. Now my 09 I only need to flick my key as it pretty much auto start's itself.|

|focusrenton||thank you whynotthinkwhynot. I am new to this so I didn't want to make a new thread for something that had already been posted. I will clean or replace the MAF and see if that helps my issue.|

Your problem might not be this problem. The general problem was that there was too much air allowed in the engine for startup. This might still be your problem, but might be caused by something else.
I suggest you start your own thread instead of latching on to this old one which was started in 2012.
I can tell you what I do with my car- I bump the engine, if it doesn't start immediately at the first little turn of the motor, I turn it back off. The second start fires right up every time it does it. I've gotten so used to this that I don't even think about it any more, so I can't tell you when the last time was that it happened.
You might have some sort of vacuum leak, dirty MAF, or air intake leak if you didn't have the hard start problem previously and then now you do.

Clean the throttle body and the air flow sensor, started using sea foam and the 108 octane ( made for fuel injectors ) took care of problem until she drove thru water 😡
Use the 108 once a month and the sea foam every other fill up
Also don't let tank stay below half of tank for long, the gas keeps the fuel pump cool and last longer.
When was the last time fuel fillter was changed?
Also I change spark plugs every 75,000 miles and use the anti sees
Even on my new one I took them out and put it on them, the motor maker ( not ford ) does not put enough if any at all

Our 06 is like that- without fail, 2 longish crank attempts if its been sitting a bit. Always on the second one though. Doesn't matter what suggested tricks we try, it's always 2. Just learned to live with it. Can't seem to fix it with all the clean this and that tips I've heard.
Edit: it's got 69000 miles

TSB for Hard Starting
There is a TSB out for the 2005 model year 2.0L/2.3L and MTX-75 for hard starting. The TSB is 05-9-16. I bought mine used and the previous owner did not have it done, and I do have hard starting, especially if the ambient temperature is between about 30 - 65 degrees. I believe mine gets too much fuel when starting issues occur. If it takes longer than one second to start, I keep cranking and begin depressing the accelerator pedal. The car will then start, usually with a little puff of black smoke (indicating a rich start).
