Maffy3w Where did you get your key cut?

And are the buttons from the old key fob or do they come with new ones? Mine are pretty worn down lol.

IKT Key

Still waiting to hear if you made the new key work by adding the pill transponder. I have been trying the new key on a 2002 Lincoln LS with a 4D60 pill and chip no luck in starting the car but the key fob work on the car. Still trying to make the new key work.

pats key for ikt intergrated key

hey crazrich did putting the pill in the new style intergrated key work? I have a 2002 Lincoln LS with the PATS key with the pill and want to use the new intergrated key instead. I had the new intergrated key (ikt) cut and the fob working but the car won't start probably due to the new stlye chip does not work with the old style pill. You said you where going to try to put a pill in the new IKT style key and see if it works. Well did it I would like to do the same thing. Thanks for the reply back

Theta SIgma I'm thinking of doing this too, what are the chances of me messing this up somehow? (I do have bad luck sometimes)

Also, what is the quality of the fob?

crazirich IF you want a key fob that won't break get a billet aluminum one. No more broken busted keyring loop. Put it on a lanyard and swing it at someones head you'll get a nice goose egg!

UPR makes a couple

crazirich There are a lot of Ford keys that can interchange with each other... The big difference is getting the right PATS chip. Older (00-05) Focus use a chip like a pill and was only shared with a couple cars like the Escapes (01-04) and Lincoln Ls (00-02). Other Ford vehicles use that style but a different coding to the pill

Older pats key with chip pulled out

Short of pulling the "pill" and taping it to your column or inside one of those larger body keys there isn't many options

If you have a newer focus (06-11) the chip is the same as every other car with that shape of key and even some with the square keys like an 06 Grand Marquis or a Town Car. The Integrated Fob keys out of cars like Fusion, Edge, 08up Escape etc. have the same key chip built in. This means you could program a Fusion style key to your car as well as some of the flip/blade keys you see. It seems like its a more poplar chip. Most fords use it from the 2000's on.

Newer "round" key

Fusion key

I broke apart one of the fob keys i got from the junk yard.

The integrated keys are like a fob and chip internal on the same board. The long skinny chip on the left is the PATS chip I believe. The chips in these will not work on the 05 and older cars but the Fob portion can still be programmed to your car and have one cut to match. I am probably going to stuff a pill from one of my keys into one and then program the fob to see if it will work.

* * * WARNING NOTE * * *

The integrated keys are NOT screwed together... they are GLUED and not intended to be taken apart other than the back cover coming off to service the battery. The 2012 keys are also LASER cut like a VW key and you wont find a hardware store cutting those things. Even some dealers don't have the machines to do it seeing they can cost up to like $8000

iantm I bought one of these. Had the local hardware store cut it to match one of my keys. Followed the programming instructions in the owner's manual with my two other keys. Works like a charm. Keep it on the keychain that I keep the key to the wife's VW on. Works great for me. Would highly recommend. Oh, my car's an 07 focus. Even with the remote removed from the assembly, the car will still start - so it has a PATS chip in in.

Incognito27 if you got a different circuit board inside then you can get the dealership to reprogram it to the car

I have this exact style key. I had a ford dealership do all the dirty work but it worked fine for me.
