Berlin Bill FWIW - on a PT Cruiser I drive I have had a extremely slight one-time headlight flicker since new. I eventually noticed that the flicker coincided with the coolant temp gauge reaching its usual operating position. There have been no other electrical issues with the car so I haven't been concerned.
Don't know if this would apply to a FF but the situation sounds similar.

rsnow more then likely a bad ground or, look at your battery cables and see if its melted some near the battery, feel the negitive cable or positive when its running and see if it feels warm, high resistance in your battery cables will cause this issue. im a ford senior master tech and had the same thing on my car.... the alt also went out about 2 months after i replaced the batt cables. not to fun to do

Wait and watch for what, the headlight(s) to go completely out? That could be dangerous under the right circumstances and costly if the police issue you a citation.

There's clearly a break in the circuit somewhere, it could even be the headlight itself. I'd get a second opinion if possible.
