Aye, I drove a '13 ST with the plates. Sounded solid as a rock, very smooth, and very quiet.
For the record, I installed the ST front suspension on my car (struts, strut mounts, fresh strut bearings), but don't have the reinforced plates on my strut brace. My car sounds horrible right now.

I took the survey.
Here are some more observations I did today.
I have a July 27th built SEL Sedan with 16'' alloy wheels.
I dont have the thick spacer. I do have the front clunking noise and its more noticable when I have passagers with me.
Took my car in today for the DCT again and was given a 2013 SE Flex/fuel loaner. This loaner has the additionnal plating and the front suspension is VERY quiet. Before leaving the dealer, I checked another Focus in the showroom, an april 2012 built...no extra plating on this one. The loaner I have is a very enjoyable ride. I will put it tru some real testing as I will use it to go tru my daily gauntlet ride to my office in Montreal. I'll report back tomorow night
Hoping this helps.

Here is my 2013 Titanium Sedan without the handling package. Build date is 8/8/12. When I go over rough roads, I hear a hollow sound coming from the front of the car but I always thought it was the tires. I don't know if this counts as a the clunk you speak of.

If everyone doesn't mind, please take a look at this thread and take the survey.

So we still don't have any real reason for the thicker plate or not yet?
Also here is a working pic of mine:

The ST arms are steel, but not the same as the regular Focus steel arms.
