Kipp that depends how it's set up in the lincoln. if it's a seperate control then should be, but if it's a feature built in to the headunit then prolly not. also depends what type of control it is. if it's just a potentiometer then it's not gonna make it any louder than what it is with the current setup. it will just give you the ability to turn it down if you want. this will also be effected by the bass control in the headunit. if you turn down the bass in the headunit then the output to that switch will most likely be matched to that setting and you won't be able to make it louder with that extra control.

would need to do some more research to see what's possible.

Fanatic Mike In the Focus tech book received with the car, Ford mentiones also the Sony system for the Lincoln and the Lincoln has a subwoofer control, would it be possible to add this to our Focus ?

Mikefocus2012 It doesn't have a sub control, pain in the butt.

I plan on upgrading my amp and sub by tapping in to the rear speakers, the amp I'm going to get comes with a sub control remote that I can put where ever I want. This way I'll be able to control the sub.

Kipp as said above, the sub needs an enclosed area to create pressure. "volume" on a sub is spl (sound pressure level). the smaller the space the more pressure it can create and the louder it will appear to sound.

in regards to the origonal question; the bass control on the headunit is just that. it controls all bass and is not an independant sub control. if you are wanting to control it seperately then you can put in an equalizer to seperate the output signal levels between speakers and sub. the other option is to put something like a bass blocker on the seakers to keep them from playing bass. a fairly simple and inexpensive route, but is not the recommended fix. these are simple devices that eliminate all frequencies below a certain point (usually 220hz) you will loose some mid bass as well as bass. the sub doesn't play high enough to cover that gap (usually cut off about 80 hz) so there is a range that will not be played at all.

Now534 When you have the hatch open the sound waves just bounce around without having to pressure anything. When its closed it builds up the pressure in the back. Sounds confusing but its just like playing a sub out of a box vs. playing a sub in a box. All about pressure buildup.

Borko Yes, me too. I even think that I have a problem with that and I'd like to ask ou guys if it is the same for you. When I open the boot while the music is playing I can't here the subwoofer working properly. When I get closer to it there is something as a bass but I'm even not sure that this is not the bass from inside of the car. And When I sit behind there it no bass compared with the front seats of the car.
How about you ?

Subwoofer bass control on Sony Premium package

I recently bought a 2012 Focus SEL Sedan with Sony Premium sound. In the Audio settings, I could see the bass control. But when i increase that, I guess the bass in all the speakers(in door + subwoofer) gets increased. Is there a way, I can increase just the Subwoofer's bass ?

Thanks
