Miller88 The emissions controlled fords (newer) seem to be MUCH more prone to the high idle issues.

My Focus routinely idles at 1500RPM (it's normal) and our F350 has never idled below 1500. My Taurus would idle at 2500RPM on cold start ... all are considered to be "normal"

It's the car's way of warming up. It'll be high for a couple minutes then the RPMs should drop back to normal. Both my Explorer ATX and Focus MTX do that.

xcal3 flasher/tune will run you around $400 and it is something you can do on your own. That price is for the xcal (which you use to flash a tune to your ecu) and a custom tune provided by the place that sells you the tune. They will customize your tune based on what you want and what mods you have to your car, they can change many of the parameters to your car's ecu mapping.

The two more popular tuners are Focus-Power (1turbofocus aka Tom) and fswerks.com, research both if you are considering buying a tune.

#1fordfan my 2005 5 speed does the same thing. it is normal. I have heard it can be taken out with a tune, but i don't have the mods to support that yet,so I just deal with it. Of course it is easier to deal with with a manual tranny, but I still think it sucks.
