|sleepyboy||I'd probably just get the whole cv shaft since it would be a lot faster, just remove and replace. Also your going to need tranny fluid since you'll have to drain it before you remove the axle. You still may need tranny fluid even if you just replace the boot if you have to remove the shaft. If it's not making any noises though you may just want to replace the boot. Then again I'd probably replace the boot too instead of spending money on a axle, funny this is a real hard decision and has me thinking which way to go too lol|

New axle or cv boot?
Hello all! So the the other day I replaced all four shocks on the ol' focus SVT as she has hit 90k. I didn't realize it until a day later that somehow the inner CV joint axle boot has ripped and has sprayed grease all over. Oreilly auto sells new remanufactured half shafts for 70 dollars or a new boot kit for 20. Is it worth replacing the entire axle while I have it all apart? Or should I just take the shaft out and install a new boot?
