BlueIce I might do this, glad I read this threat. I hate having to worry about my USB drive breaking when I throw stuff in the middle console.

daemoniscinxi You can also plug in a 512 GB SSD drive into the USB port formatted as FAT32 (requires special formatting). I currently have all of my music on this one drive in my car.

I didn't think that the Windows Automotive OS's SD card stack supported the SDXC specification. But considering others have already said it works, it must.

Regarding the SDXC card, the same principle for formatting should be true. Anything over 32 GB will require you to format it a special way with FAT32 to remove the 32 GB limitation.

FoFoTi 512 GB for only a little over $ 700.00

stuff1138 Holy smokes...I had no idea they made SD cards with that large a capacity.

Marine I have close to 120GB of MP3s most of which are ripped from CD's...But a 512GB sandisk is nutty. The price is even nuttier.

Marine THATS CRAZY!!!!!. I have 2000 songs on my 16gb Class 10 with rooms to spare. That would be enough for 64,000 320kbps quality bit mp3 songs lol lol Unless you have that from the napster days lol

Kabigon Anyone try one of these? They are only $729

AxshunJaxun Thank you Taiko and Valmundo for commenting with specifics. I've been searching and reading for... way more time than I thought it would take to figure this out...

64 GB SDXC does work with the Focus

So I finally got around and purchased a 64 GB SDXC card for my focus (since I don't have Nav but have an SD card slot that was essentially not being put to use). After formatting it to FAT32 (and not exFAT), I was able to transfer 44 GB of music on my card and so far, it is working without a hitch.

FYI for those who don't have NAV but would like to put their SD card slot to use.

And now, the art shows up...

Aaaand, today my album art magically appeared, so all's good! It was one of the few things driving me nuts about MFT (though I've only had the car for a couple of weeks, so...) Still, really pleased with it, including the 64Gb capability.
ETA: 64Gb cards come formatted as exfat natively (at least mine did, a Sandisk Ultra) recognizable by my wife's camera immediately, but not the Focus. It has to be Fat32 in the Focus.
