I don't think that we need any additives for our cars but I do have to disagree with most of the posts here and I'll explain why.
I have an '04 Harley RG that's bored, stroked, high compression heads and because of all this it has a tuner (or else the stock ECM wouldn't run the bike). Living in the wonderful Commonwealth of Mass we have typically 3 grades of gas, regular at 87 (my Focus loves this thank goodness), a mid grade of 90 and premium at 93 (which is what my bike HAS to have. Over the summer I met up with a bunch of friends who live in Maine. We went for a LLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG ride way up in the boonies one weekend and all I could find was a premium of 90 or 91. Talk about running like crap and pinging, I thought I would ruin the engine! I found a NAPA (I think) and bought 3 bottles of STP for the weekend. Made all the difference in the world.
My "other" car is a '04 350Z which also only likes hi test. I've played with this one regarding the octane boost and while it doesn't like 87 with the booster it will run fine on 90 with it (Dollar Store, $12.00 for a case of 9 too).

|RonMaiden||I like BG's 44K to keep my fuel system clean and I use it once a year and it worked wonders keeping the piston heads clean on my very raced and abused turbo Eclipse for the 10 years I raced it.|

When I was young broke and stupid and drove a Honda Trail 90 around as transportation, I liked to dump a whole bottle of octane boost into the tank every once in awhile. Wow, what a difference it made in power! Especially since the tank only held a gallon or two.
It sure made the bike a whole lot more fun though. At stoplights I'd drop the gearbox into neutral, wind up the engine, and on green slam it into gear and hang ten through the intersection. The bike had a centrifugal clutch.
Eventually the cylinder head couldn't take the abuse anymore and it kinda sorta blew up on me one day.
I have on occasion used octane boost in my vehicles and it does seem to make a difference depending on the car. Haven't tried it in the Focus yet but I wonder how it would run if I put 12-gallons of the stuff in the tank? Hmm...

Techron is for cleaning your fuel system. It's the best product you can use (just ask any MB or Porsche tech), and you should only use it right before an oil change. It doesn't "foul" anything. I run a bottle every 5k i all my cars, and have for 20 years.
Octane boost is a waste of time. Shell VPower 93 is the best gasoline you can buy, as far as mas-produced premium.

|DayGlow||If your serious google toluene. A lot of people use it to make home-made race gas well above 93 octane and is a lot more economical than little bottles.|

Most if not all of those additives will leave deposits on your spark plugs.
I do not recommend them to anyone for any reason.
