Fluffy6079 He's right about taking money to play. Just be patient and try not to be too eager for everything you want. It takes time too.

LouBomb tbh it's one of those things that it takes $$$ to play..

popular mods, are svt header, orp, flex, exhaust, intake, and tune.. the latter being the most expensive but makes a difference. also throttle body will give you a better throttle response. best way to save money is to keep an eye out on our forum here at the BST section.. a lot of good deals have been popping up.

fswerks, cfm, massive, focus-power, topspeed, and rps make parts for our cars and most of em are vendors here.

Kbihx Thanks for the replies, that clears it up! However, beyond replacing the exhaust and intake, are there are other things that you'd recommend changing? I mean, what stock parts do most people usually swap out first when they want to gain a little performance, for not much buck?

cody.carr exhaust tips are just for looks, they add no performance. cut off the lunchbox and add in some flex pipe for a little extra added sound. heres the How To ------> http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=161654

if your looking for something with a nice mellow, yet somewhat quiet tone, check out my bst thread. the stealth is a great option

sgtsmasher Welcome to FF, good call on the intake and no an exhaust tip will do Nothing for performance, their just for looks. And as far as cheap exhausts, i know of a site where i bought my exhaust, as far as quiet...generally after you change anything, its no longer becomes quiet. Mandrelexhaustsystems.com os where i got mine, hope this helps

Exhaust Tip Question

Hi, I have a 2002 ZX3 with a Volant cold air intake (bought after reading these forums). I was wondering if exhaust tips were purely for looks, or had any effect on performance. If they're purely for looks, what would you recommend to buy for a cheap-ish, quiet exhaust? And are they easy to install?
