roswelltop Delayed about a month. Somehow or other the new short throw shifter jumped the line and the new steering wheel moved down a notch on the "to do" list.

The company (B&I) takes an OEM Ford Focus Steering wheel, adds the leather and the carbon fiber, and ships it to me. Car ID is the retailer.

My friend who is a ford tech will remove my existing wheel, pull the airbag, switches and any components and insert into my new wheel, and install it for me.

I then pack up my old wheel and mail it back to car id within 20 days and my $150 deposit is credited to my account.

I am expecting to have it completely installed either the weekend before Labor Day or the weekend after Labor Day.
I'd like to see this. Post it here!

I will post pix once installed.
Looking forward to this! Is it a core swap then or are you getting a new steering wheels for 300? That's not bad at all

fenway1912 An alternative, get this steering wheel!

You can get the Platinum Silver color to match the shiny bits around the steering wheel controls

PMTGUY So my alcantara sample is big enough to be a table cloth.

nyuk98gt mjb457 & PMTGUY:

I installed a WheelSkins cover on my 98 Mustang GT and it was superb. The installation was a bit of a bear (you have to pull the nylon cord pretty tight and if you don't wear gloves then your fingers will get chewed up...) but the color was a match for the original leather and the cover made the wheel a bit thicker so it was much more comfortable to hold. If I have another leather wear issue on a steering wheel, I will buy another WheelSkins cover.

HTH,

Chris

PMTGUY I e-mailed the Alantara company and asked them if they made steeringwheel covers they dont. They make the material for the companies to make the cover. But the person I spoke with did offer to send me a sample of the material. So im crossing my fingers its enough to wrap the whole wheel. Option number 2 is go to a fabric store buy some suede and make it yourself. If I can figure it out I will post some pictures Im nervous I dont want to screw this one up. My luck they will send a 1 inch square. maybe I can glue that to the top of my wheel hahaha.
