electricbeach If you look at the end of the filter neck, at the filter end, there is a small lip in there. That is what I grinded away.
I am going to keep the filter as is I think for now.

sonarplexes Yah it is quiet loud. i have the normal drop in K&N filter as well which didnt affect sound that much vs stock so this is nice change.

what did you mean by: "Then inside there is a lip that had to be grind-ed away. This lip was causing the filter to slip off of the MAF." <--- which lip, where?

are you going to make an adaptor ring so that it seals the sides of the air box completely or what do u think?

electricbeach The sound is a little quieter than having the lid off. So pretty loud, but not bad. Sounds similar to an Evo to me.

sonarplexes awesome stuff electricbeach, i was also battling installing this but i read this thread and just shortened the neck of the filter and voila that made it fit nicely.

Thing is im hearing alot of air coming into the cabin along with nice bov dumping sound, but im not sure im suppose to hear that much air in the cabin when the radio/music is switched off. What has the difference been on your vehicle?

electricbeach Got it to work. Fits inside the stock air box. I had to trim the length of the filter's neck about 1/2 an inch. Then inside there is a lip that had to be grind-ed away. This lip was causing the filter to slip off of the MAF.

Here are some pics. I want to fab up a support bracket for the front soon.

Thats why you trim the edge of the lid and add the support ring.

electricbeach I can use a clamp on the k&n still. I wonder if it slides off because its all oily. Will have to clean off the inside of the k&n filter neck tomm and try again.

If not I'm thinking of getting a short 2.75" tube and using that as a connector of some sorts. We shall see.

The MAF is also very short, making it harder to mount.

I am trying to figure out some custom couplers I can use to make this work, hopefully I can come up with something in the next week or so.
I slid mine right over the piece of the MAF in the AirBox. Do you have enough on the airfilter neck to use the clamp. It should have 1.5 inches left. I cut 1/2 from the lid where the old filter would sit.
