Finally got the issue resolved. Turned out to be the entire wiring harness for the airbag system. They replaced it from "battery to bag". They installed a 'test harness' and I drove it around for two weeks. Then they ordered the new harness and it took a couple of days to install (they have to rip out the seat and almost all the interior panels). Thankfully under warranty and Jim Click Ford in Tucson was excellent with arranging a rental car. The regional Ford folks (Brad) was also a pleasure to work with. Here's a tip... don't be impatient with them. If they're calling in engineers, odds are it won't be done that afternoon.

Same Problem with No Resolution Yet
I have had the same issue. Just took my 2012 Focus SE hatchback to the dealer for the 4th time for the airbag light issue. They said that they have replaced everything at this point. They have me charting when it comes on again to see if there is a trigger.
Picked it up from the dealer this last time on Friday, light came on again on Saturday...and Sunday. Still no clear pattern causing it, yet. I love this little car but won't be able to keep it if they cannot get this airbag issue fixed.

Problems with the dash Airbag light (always on)
I have the same problem... unfortunately, I've been to the dealer 4 times without it fixed.
1) Seat connector/sensor
2) Replaced the side curtain airbag
3) Cleaned connections (dielectric grease was shorting out the connector)
Don't know what's next... was actually suggested by the service director to call Ford for a lemon law buy back program. I've had the car just over a month and only 1,012 miles when I brought it back a fourth time.

Of all places to get my Focus fixed ... the Lincoln dealer down the street from me. Great group of guys .. from the service manager, mechanic and the service adviser. I purchased many cars there, Lincolns and Mercurys. They dont own a Ford dealership ... the lost Mercury of course ... and now Ford is trying to make them sell their store ... Ford is big on highway dealerships and they are the complete opposite of that.
I did get a loaner car. A little Fiesta. Black like my Focus .. looks similar to the uneducated ..... a great little car for the money .. but it is no Focus TI that is for sure.
I should have over 100K on the Focus by its third birthday .....

|gtncpa||Got the car back from the dealer. It was a faulty sensor on the driver side. They replaced it and I am good to go!|

I had a similar issue:
I never had a chance to take it in, but it also hasn't happened since the two times I mentioned in the thread.

Airbag light on (not the passenger one)
It just started happening today. The airbag light comes on when i start the car (normal) goes off once all the other lights go off (so far so good) then it comes back on after a few seconds and stays on.. I guess I am headed to the dealer. I have 22K on my 2012 Titanium. This was the first problem.
Anyone have any ideas?
