jbjs40 Wouldn't it have been easier on the plastic if you would have removed the remaining trim clips on the front nose side of the car? I don't like bending things quite that far.

Indianb0y018 Removed the snorkel on my car, and it was a giant PITA. But, my goodness the car feels so much better. Maybe its placebo, but I definitely noticed a difference. Just awaiting a new filter as Im trying to save money at this point, but so far its nice. Maybe Ill fill up Grade 89 Petrol and see how this things rocks! I 100% recommend this!

gdcwatt I guess that I've discovered that an end cap is never necessary, if you have an AFE ProDry S, but we know that the snorkel delete is important, so I was going to do it. I just didn't realize it would make the open filter so quiet. And I like to think that leaving the end open gives the shortest route for additional air to the throttle body, for improved throttle response, until the rest of the flow gets there from the regular intake.

There's too much snow here to see if the car's any faster, or if throttle response is better, but it does sound better, but no one else around here will ever notice. The car’s gone away to school for a few months, but I will get some reports back, and I have looked at dyno85’s dynos.

I wondered why the snorkel delete quieted things down so much. I’m guessing that more air was being drawn in through the open end (it’s the shortest path) than now, but more air is being drawn in from the filter’s large round-side area now. But I can’t explain why everything is so much quieter.

Sawing the top off the OEM filter (with top plate), I spent some time looking at the OEM filter. The folded paper is incredibly dense, and unravels to about 6’ (estimated from memory) in length. If you flattened the ProDry/K&N’s pleats – let’s say double the filter’s circumference - it would be 35” long, or about half of the surface area of an OEM paper filter. I have to think that the OEM filter is over-sized (and with a lot of surface area) so that it will still provide “just enough” air when it is really dirty to keep the engine running.
Or you couldve just bought a Mountune end cap, that's what I did...

Lash LaRue Sorry to be stupid Jonny-Come-Lately with this, but can somebody explain what that "snorkel" is supposed to even do in the first place? Prevent the intake from sucking up water in monsoon rains (or when fording rivers), is that all??

I'm happy to ford the river, even if it means losing a few oxen on the way across...

Bybepl My car is a 5 speed, so maybe that's the difference. Just doesn't feel any different at all.
