djwrg04 Went more or less Rally status with Anya. I'm living in Illinois now and we already had a lil bit of snow last week and supposedly Carbondale gets close to a foot and a half of snow on occasion.


I went with stock springs up front and the SVT front sway bar. I used a 1" metal spacer on both struts between the strut bearing and spring to stiffen the ride a little bit and keep the car up higher than stock.



Out back I stuck with the SVT rear springs and SVT sway bar. All I did was just raised my perches to reach higher than stock and installed some polyurethane rear spring isolators. I might throw on my mazda 30mm rear sway bar to stiffen the ride out back but I need to get used to how she handles first.













Found my front camber issue... the strut top nut was loose and the threads riding on the plate wore it inward.

djwrg04 -New Coil Pack Bracket-

Got new wires from Karl at Massive, while I was at FocusFest. They ended up being stretched too much for my liking so I figured there was no better time than now to make a coil pack bracket.


I was originally going to use just a Zetec bracket I had sitting around, but the holes didn't line up and it was too long.


Ended up using some scrap aluminum my dad had laying around.

Overall, I like the new location much better and I feel like it cleans up the look of the engine bay a bit. If I get a chance, I'd love to try and mount an SVT coil pack cover to clean things up a bit.

There were only two issues I ran into.
1. I had to extend the coil pack wiring by about 2 inches as the connector now faces the battery.
2. It was confusing as hell at first when putting the new plug wires on since none of the wiring diagrams I found online showed where the connector was on the coil pack and the coil pack was oriented differently.


-Radiator cover-

I have a nice set of hood pins I've been wanting to use for some time now, but never got around to actually mounting them.

Well I had mounted them several weeks ago but they prevented me from using my radiator cover.

I figured I'd fab something up to cover the area seeing as the radiator cover is supposed to direct airflow into the radiator to maximize cooling system performance and all that good stuff.

I found some diamond plate laying around the garage and thought it would look great if I gave it a brushed aluminum finish.





You can see the difference between the original (albeit faded) finish and the brushed aluminum(right) I did with a stainless steel brush.
















Clear coated to keep it fresh.









It fits real good and looks better than having an open gap there.

djwrg04 Been stupid busy lately and now that I've got some real downtime I figured I ought to get back into the game!

I just got back from my first vacation without patents with my fiance. We went to Kentucky Dam Village and took Anya.



Anya appears in the majority of our pictures like this as if she's the disgruntled ex-girlfriend/3rd wheel.



This was taken while Google Maps led us through roughly 21 miles of gravel roads and off road trails when looking for a gas station.



Drying off shoes the quick way!


Overall the trip was really nice and we had tons of fun. Poor Anya got the crud beat out of her on the crap roads and gravel trails leaving her absolutely covered in gravel dust.



Today I woke up and came outside to get the mail and was pleasantly surprised with a beautiful sunny day @ 74* and real low humidity.

So what better to do than clean off the car!!













And all that's just from washing. I worked on that in sections from about noon to 4.


That's all for now, If I find time tonight I'll update with the final results after wax and clay bar! [emoji41]

djwrg04 Not exactly Focus related, but its something I'm pretty proud of.

I finally got off my butt and installed my GPU water cooling parts I've been sitting on for a week or two. It all went good with the help of my buddy Mark except for the part where the $130 water block for my AMD 7950 didn't fit...

I couldn't really go back since I spent so much time braiding and hiding the wires that I said screw it and hooked the resivor/pump up to my radiator to make sure everything worked.

djwrg04 Good news everyone! Turbo time is creeping closer with every day. I've got roughly 4/5 weeks left of classes and I'm seriously ready to get back into the swing of things.


For the past 3 or so years around this time I start throwing around the "T" word and hint at boost and other tantalizing things... Which usually never come to fruition.

Well... ALL THAT IS GOING TO CHAMGE THIS YEAR!

I've now got the $ set aside to back my big mouth up and get up off my @ss!


Where do I start?

I'm going with a OEM turbo for reliability (as this is my first time doing anything related to turbo.) Which is going to be a Ford Probe turbo I still need to pick up from my buddy DiscipleRocks out on Evansville.

As for the parts, heres what I have in-hand so far:

-JGS tools SPI manifold
-Burton Power adjustable can-gear
-$120 eBay Intercooler kit w/ tubing. (Not a permanent thing, need it for the pipes and silicone connectors mainly)
-AEM wideband o2 kit
-Diablo MAFia
-Burton Power mild lift "Turbo" Can
-Thunderbird 2.3 dual valve springs


That's about all I have so far, as I'm still doing research on the rest of the parts I'm going to need.

I hope to get back into the forums more over the next few weeks so expect to see me poking around and asking questions!!
