I took my Focus Titanium Hatchback into Ford Service in December 2014 for a rattling/clanking sound. They said the clutch needed to be replaced and found a transmission leak issue. After the parts were ordered the service took 3 days. All seemed find. In April 2015 the rattling/clanking from the front right (?) started again. They said the clutch needed to be replaced yet again. I had to wait until June 1st for the part to come in because they only get 2 a week. Clutch replaced in one day and SW updates made (again). Problem continued. I drove it approx. 1800km and took it back the third week of June. I now have just over 100 000kms on the car. They listened again and did another 'SW' update and said to drive it at least 1500kms.
I took it in this morning because the issue never ceased. I have driven 1800kms since the latest 'fix' and this time they didn't even listen to the car or test drive it. They said they know is the Transmission module and will order a new one.
After reading many posts on the forum I think it is either the motor mount or lower control arm. How do I get the right service from them finally? This is very frustrating as we are purchasing the car, bought the highest maintenance package and 7 year bumper to bumper extended warranty on everything and the car sounds like crap.

To me, that is definitely suspension squeak and sounds like the bumpers squeaking, which is not what mine is, mine is a definite rattle.
Good luck getting your's resolved asap.

Add me into the list with this issue. It started last summer and the dealer greased the strut bearings. The noise came back in February, though they claimed they couldn't hear anything and, therefore, didn't do anything. I was able to record the sound on a video and in early April they replaced the bearings.
Which was great, because my 36 months ended a few days later. (My mileage was still under 36k, but I get it's whichever comes first.)
Two weeks later, the sound comes back, as you can hear here:
When I contacted the dealer, I was told that since I was out of the warranty period, there would be a $115 diagnostic fee. If the issue was covered under the powertrain warranty, then that would be waived. If it wasn't, it - and any subsequent repair - were on me.
When I asked if they weren't warrantying their own work, I was told someone in management would contact me. It's been weeks - no word from the dealer. Given the other issues I've had with them, it's not a surprise - attention to detail is not their strong suit.
The suspension is quiet now that it's warm, so I won't have to worry about it until the fall, I guess. Very disappointed in my local dealer - has anyone had any luck talking to Ford directly?

|Scougar||For me, it wasn't the stones, I get the rattle even just going down my stone driveway and off the kerb lip.|
