lordford Hate to revive an old thread, but thought this might help others.

The module that needs to be replaced, or actually just updated (which absolutely can be done by a tech), is in the center console. I don't have part numbers, but know this for a fact.

I agree with this. I don't have a smart phone, but my Garmin nuvi2555LMT is a very nice GPS. With the ProClip mount, it is very nicely integrated, and I get to use it in my other vehicles as well. The MFT Nav I have seen are not as nice, and I'm sure the updates aren't included as they are with my $200 Garmin

RockyD I almost traded in my car because of the pitiful voice control and general crappiness of the MFT Navigation. Although it's nice to have something built in, a garmin and most definitely my android phone using voice offer a much much better experience. If I could do it all over again, I would have skipped the built in Navi and stuck with my Galaxy Nexus.

You may not have a nice integrated solution, but you will have better navigation.

I do find it curious, though, that the only reply I've gotten from a Ford rep in this entire topic is that I might void my warranty. I've been all over Tech and Customer Support for the better part of a year and a half trying to get this working (since my dealership screwed me over when I bought the car) and the only reply I get is I could void my warranty.

The only thing I want is to get the Nav I was supposed to have when I purchased my car. I've already spent twice what I would have when buying the car...I just want to get this working and I've gotten *no* help at all from Ford.

A lot of us are willing to pay and this is more money for Ford....suggest this to your upper management, you might even get a promotion out of it! And we'll finally get NAV.....everyone wins, us, Jaclyn, And Ford...how 'bout it?

He is purchasing OEM parts. Not aftermarket. Warranty wouldn't be voided at all.
He is clearly willing to pay what he needs to since his dealer lied. If he knew this from the beginning I'd imagine he would've gotten the Nav at time of purchase.
He has spent much more than what we pay. He has the same hardware. It's really the software isn't it?
I don't understand why this can't be enabled and why Ford isn't making it easier. It's not like this is some underground and illegal scheme, he clearly wants to spend money.
Why make it so hard for him?
Hey everyone -

I'm not able to comment on threads dealing with modifications. I just jumped in to let you know about the policy. As long as you're doing everything correctly, there's nothing to worry about.

I'm not trying to make this hard on anyone, I provide as much information as I can.

hotleadsingerguy - I'd like to have someone from our Customer Care Team contact you. Please PM me your VIN, the dealership you typically work with, and your best contact number.

hotleadsingerguy I've kind of changed my mind, for the time being. For now I'm going to return this part and just buy a Garmin. With the iPhone 5 launching in a few weeks, trying to pay off this car, and wanting to buy a new bike...I'd rather conserve the funds until I'm sure of what I can do.

Don't get me wrong, I still plan on replacing this idiotic non-Nav system with the full Nav edition, but from this point forward I'm going to make sure of what I'm doing before spending the cash. Hopefully Ford will soon take their heads out of whatever places they're currently in and starts offering an upgrade solution.

I do believe as others that enabling NAV is just a software, because making different parts doesnt make sense, especially taking into account that Ford is cutting expences. The only thing I could else think of is a some physical swith on module, if it is not software.
Agree ^^

Thank you for sharing you experiences hotleadsingerguy. I hope you get there in the end.

The part # I told the parts department I needed isn't the APIM module -- it's the audio control module. He must have ordered the other part I listed (the one needed for the order, but not the target of the order).
