Notorious0ne Thats awesome. The ford dealer said to get another key cut it was gonna cost me 125 bucks. So i took it to ace hardware and got it done for 60.

packnrat i was told to "fix" the dealers key as close as possible to were the key is inserted to start the computer. as this way the computer reads the key and not the one you are using.

with luck the motor will run.

and no more getting $crewed for just a key.

boxner1 I was quoted $100 by two dealers for a crown vic key.

cost to program a key

I was given two keys to my ZX3 when I bought it. Last winter, I lost my key ring in the snow with one of my car keys on it. So, I purchased a transponder key on the internet for $25. I took it to an Ace Hardware to have it cut and programmed. They cut the key but realized they couldn't program it because it wasn't an I-key and all they do are I, A, and P keys. I called one dealer in town and asked how much it would be just to program the key I got on the internet. They said $45. That is steep to me. Is this reasonable to you? I would like to know how I can get them to come down from that price. Any ideas?
