This is also doing 75-78mph for the entire 100 mile round trip with 2 miles of country roads getting onto the highway and 2 miles of city streets getting off the highway.
Normally I set the cruise right at 80 but with the less traffic and no stops I've been leaving it a bit lower and still arriving at the same time.
it's not that unusual for a mk4 tdi though, on the tdiforums theres a whole thread devoted to guys that regularly get over 800 miles on a tank (54mpg or better basically) I just don't have the patience to drive the whole commute at 65-70mph for basically 2 weeks to see that sort of mileage.
one last interesting fact, the tdi tank is actually the same part number as the gasser tank which is rated at 13.5 gallons. Because gasoline expands so much based on temperature there is a pressure relief/airtrap that basically never lets the tank get more than 13.5 gallons of fuel plus 1.5 gallons of airspace, since diesel doesn't expand the first mod every TDI owner does is pull out the airtrap so that you can get the full 15 gallons of diesel into it which gives an extra 125-150 miles between fill ups.

Sorry for naivety but, how does that even work?
I understand diesel is more fuel efficient, with a generally higher price, but how so long? Is it like a much bigger gas tank? I'm getting 34 avg combined (about 40 hwy), but like, i get half that per tank.

Normally I fill up 30-40 miles after fuel light comes on which nets me 685-700 miles on a tank.

Gopro with ACHOO holding the camera. Need to hold closer to watch boost and rpm next time!!
Also still leaking damn oil, I think there might even be some leaking out of the housing where the SC was cracked. More JB weld it is!
Yes the hose is close to the half shaft, but it's near the part that doesn't move up/down and not the boot
