E365/5 I finally got my Westfalia swan neck installed.

Frame inserts.

These bolt to the inserts above.

Main bar. This replaces the original steel bumper.

All back together.

De-swanning the swan neck. I cut the euro ball off and welded on a piece of steel to accept a 2" ball.

Before i got the hitch for my '14 hatch, i would put my 26" MTB inside all the time. Fold the seats down, and remove the quick connect front wheel. I've had as many as 3 in there like that carefully stacking them on on each other.

Mike_Mac I can say I would recommend people not move more then about 2000lbs. Moved about 2,600lbs the other day. Handled and stopped fine (probably due to having electric brakes on the trailer and a tekonsha P3 controller in the car). Car didn't really have the torque to accelerate at an acceptable level while keeping revs below 3k. Shifting around 3500-4000 you could accelerate decently. cruising on level ground in 5th at 60 kmh was doable, but any incline required a downshift to 4th. Never took this load anything over 60 as it was just a short trip to lowes.

Edit: figured I would add this info for anyone interested.
Legality of what you can tow depends on where you live, so check that out first.

Car is a 13 Focus HB 5speed sport package/black package. Has a class II hitch, 7-way wiring and a Tekonsha P3 controller.

Mods are just a AEM dry flow and resonator delete.

Trailer I made myself. Fully TIG welded 4.5lb C-channel and 2x2x3/16 angle iron. Boards are cedar to reduce weight. 3500lb axle w/ 10 in drums. 205/75D15 tires and a tekonsha breakaway system. Total weight is about 500 lbs.

32 bags (66lbs each) of concrete is the largest load I have moved. The car could probably move more but I wouldn't be comfortable doing so. By that I mean the car seemed a little stressed. I could stop and turn normally but had troubles accelerating.

Here are some pictures. If anyone has questions ask. You don't need a pick up to tow small loads.

Slicknick my god. Today I had the car loaded up for a family bike ride. Kid trailer in the hatch, three bikes on the hitch bike rack and all four of us in the car. The car was struggling up hills, i used sport mode so it would downshift sooner and stay in lower gear. I had no problem around town but was not fun on the highway.

I'll put a hitch on the rogue next week.

Mike_Mac Seemed fine. Car squatted about 1/2"-3/4". Road normal so I would say no different then people in the back.

Since the escape is the same platform it may have been ment for that.

I have towed around 1 500lbs including trailer without any issues. I'll be adding brakes to the trailer soon to play it safe.
