Yours looks just like my old one I took off the 2013 after I filled all the holes though with Polyurethane to put on the 2012. The 2013 now has the FE RMM...

bnoon Yeah the dual rear outlets on the second gens can get a bit loud without cats on MS3's, let alone on a NA car with no turbo to knock the noise down. On the first gen cars the single outlet is pretty quiet without cats until you go WOT, so I'm hoping I don't have to add another resonator or larger muffler on my Focus.

Slo86GT A friend of mine locally is upgrading the exhaust on his 2nd gen MS3 (2012). I'll be getting this from him to see how it works on my hatch. It sounds fairly burbley on his car, I can hear him pull up from inside my home. Should be pretty throaty on an N/A car.

bnoon I put in my SU (Street Unit) MS3 mount over the weekend. Way more buzzy than my MS3 was with the same mount. The interior in the Focus is for sure cheaper quality than the MS3, where as the MS3 had a slight buzz at around 1,000 RPM, the Focus dash COMES ALIVE and actually moves for a moment. Once out of the low RPM load everything calms down quite a bit, but dang!!!

There are some improvements to be had on the passenger's side mount for sure too. I put up a comparison shot of the stock SE Focus mount vs a stock MS3 mount. The MS3 mount is stiffer, larger, and has larger cushion pads on the sides. I'm going to perform some slight modifications to limit side to side movement a little more (a trick I learned on my old MS3 back before aftermarket mounts were out for them). I'll document everything in my build thread here.

I had the car up on ramps too and laid out my MS3 exhaust pieces under the car and everything *should* line up. I didn't get pictures of that since I was in a hurry. Hopefully I can do the exhaust in about 2 months when my new house is ready. (pics of my home renovation will be posted in off topic forum if we have one).

bnoon OK, just got my gen one MS3 parts delivered last night. I got springs, stock MS3 cat-back exhaust (owner cut to remove, but should easily weld), and stock engine mounts. $300 shipped, which may or may not sound like a lot, but these are some HEAVY parts to ship! Also, for reference, the stock MS3 cat-back is barely a restriction on a modded MS3 pushing 300 to the wheels. I only saw 8 HP peak gain dropping it on the dyno, so that stock cat back should be nice and open flowing behind my OBX long tube catless header that should also be here very soon.

bnoon I used to have a 2008.5 MS3 GT and several parts under the hood seem really familiar on my 2013 Focus SE. Too bad for me I just found/sold my spare MS3 intake manifold with throttle body a few months ago... The mazdaspeedforums.org classifieds are a great place to get used springs, sways, and exhaust as those guys are VERY performance oriented and upgrade the go fast parts more than anything else x 10. Another good site for their used parts will be mazdas247.com forums, but you have a larger group of regular 3 stuff there too so sift through it.

Very intersted in hearing how the long term review on this is going. For $40 it's well worth a shot, although i couldnt find any on the ms3 forums for cheaper than $85 + shipping.

TORQUERULES The 2010+ MS3 rear sway bar needs added to this list. It is a 26mm solid bar. Use Prothane or Energy Suspension urethane bushings with "B" brackets. You can get either with or without grease fittings. Move the factory MS3 location collars inboard some to clear new bushings. Just tap them with a mallet and a screwdriver or punch. They will move with little force. They will stay in place, but you can put a hose clamp beside them if you are worried.

These bars can be had used for as little as $40. Look at online salvage sites or Mazda forums.

Of course the many available aftermarket MS3 bars will work too. Some are HUGE.
