|Scougar||Saw some advice on here about checking the plastic sill covers. Sure enough, both sides had stones in. I will see if this was it when I drive it tomorrow. Driving me nuts lol.|

I used my action camera on the way home, and although I got done good examples if the noise, as I had mounted the camera on the door handle, all you heard was wind lol. (Doh). Mine doesn't happen over larger bumps only small bumps.
Will try again tomorrow.

The strut noise is very specific in terms of location: our Focus made sounds coming from the top of the strut tower (where, in fact, it is, in many cases).
Do a quick test: jack the car up at the pinch weld (you can use your scissor jack in the spare well in the trunk and let the front wheel hang. Reach up and slide the accordion dust boot up the strut shaft. Squeeze the rubber bumpstop on the shaft. If it makes a grunting noise then the solution is (in my opinion) to put some silicone grease on the shaft and especially into the space between the bumpstop and the shaft. Slide the bumpstop up to the top. Confirm that the dust boot is 'clicked' up into place at the top. Lower the car. Repeat the procedure on the other side. Test drive and enjoy the new quietness. Silicone grease is 'SuperLube' or you can use marine grease. Regular EP grease is not really compatible with the bumpstop (and probably not with the rubber innards in the strut) so please use the proper grease.
If the bumpstop doesn't grunt then the problem is elsewhere: strut bearing? control arm? endlinks? Your dealer can put chassis ears on various front end parts of the car and pinpoint the source of the noise.
Proper credit should go to those whom I learned the aforementioned helpful pointers: the fellow who posted the YouTube video showing the grunt-ability of the bumpstops and the rest of Focus Fanatic posters in this 300-page thread.

So I'm having this sound...got about 32k miles.
Hearing that it could be a motor mount and thinking of how i installed the RMM insert has me worried...since I'm still covered by my warranty.
Edit: I have a 2013 btw, not the 2012

Thanks for that info. This is the newest car I have ever owned do the fact I have done warranty left on the car is new to me, so I appreciate the advice.
My doing is definitely a rattle so I will have to investigate further as it is really annoying. I can only really hear it with the Windows open though.

Tsb's (technical service bulletins) are an extension of service manual information.
They give suggested repair procedures for issues seen by Dealerships as a way to pass on info. on problems already seen by others.
They may or may not apply to any particular problem, and don't affect warranty status.
They range from the best ways to get stains out of seats/carpet to how to swap an engine efficiently. Suggested diagnosis & repair possibilities for noises fall somewhere in the middle of the range.
Unless you check your vehicle info. from Ford & find a special service program that applies, like the warranty extensions on DCT clutches/seals/programming & TCM faults, you'd be out of warranty coverage by 28k miles on that.
