|wheelinfool73||Extremely helpful thread! Cruise installed and works perfectly!|

I completed this upgrade in like 20 minutes, It was hard to find the right puller, had to modifiy the one I got from O'Reilly's, other than that it was a snap, This thread was great, thanks for the great pictures. I was able to have the cruise turned on for like 30 dollars at Parks Ford in Tampa, no hassle no fuss.

Secondly, I do not recommend renting a steering wheel removal kit from an autoparts store - the Gen II focus steering wheel was designed to be removed with a small 2-jaw puller (which can also be rented from an autoparts store):
I hope these corrections save others the time and agony I recently went through.

Here's a little twist
I just picked up my first Focus. A 2009 with cruise control. The steering wheel is really in rough shape. Looks badly aged and decomposing. I found some brand new OEM steering wheels for just $50, but they don't have the cruise option. I was wondering if I could buy one and then do some precision cutting of the left side so that I could put in the cruise controls from my original wheel. Anyone have enough experience comparing the two wheels to know if this is possible? I would really like to have a brand new wheel but I don't want to spend the $332 my dealer quoted me. If I have to, I'll get a wheel wrap, but that is also my second choice to having a brand new OEM wheel for just $50.

I ended up installing a wheel that has both cruise and sync buttons on my car which was originally equipped with a steering wheel without any buttons.
Took it to the local dealership and they enabled speed control and charged ~ $85 to do so.
The cruise functions normally, but the sync buttons do not control anything. Like others have stated, the radio needs to be swapped in order for the radio buttons to function.

|Devmanclearh2o||just so everyone knows, this still does work, had my dealer turn the cruise on easy as pie, only paid like $89 for a hour labor and, i had them try to turn the buttons on for the audio as well but he said that it does in fact need the correct ACM (audio control module) aka the stereo. so pretty much a stereo out of a focus that had the audio controls in the wheel already, thats my next project :)|

|Johnnystaff||has anyone figured out how to activate this without going to the dealer or knowing Russian? I've had the cruise control steering wheel in my car for a few months but they want to charge me almost $200 just to activate it...|

I have no first hand experience, but I seem to remember a thread where someone tried the same thing and they were not able to get the radio or sync buttons to work.
If you decide to give it a try please let us know if it works! I commute 124 miles each day, and the cruise control has worked flawlessly for the past year after the install!
