FocusedOnSVT Well, look who decided to show up!
zx3_bmxrider I kept a secret on here for once, but I did mention it on FX on Facebook. I bought some K-Sport Kontrol Pro's at the end of November. They had 3,000 miles on them. My buddy was home from the Navy at Christmas, so I wanted to install them with him. It turned out that we only had one day (3 hours to be specific) to get them installed on Christmas day. I didn't want to rush, so I was planning on doing the fronts only. Well within 15 minutes, we had both of my old front coilovers out and went to slide the new ones in. But the new coilovers were so short. Lol I adjusted the bottom nut where the spring sits so give me a wee bit more room. We forced the knuckle up to the coilover, but atleast it fit. Then we noticed a problem. The sway bar end links were a good 3 inches from the mount on the side of the coilover. Just for giggles, I dropped the car down to see where it sat. The tire was sitting on the fender. Lol I was so confused... I had no idea what was going on because I didn't see any other way they could be adjusted. Then I remembered that the reason everyone loved K-Sports was because the whole gas chamber assembly spins on the shaft. So that way you can control your ride height, and not lose ride quality. When I figured it out, it was already midnight and we couldn't get them unfrozen. I let them soak in PB Blaster for a week at the apartment and brought them to my parents place and got them unfrozen within a few seconds.

Soooo, fast forward to yesterday. My fiancÚ had her bridal shower, and her brother and I wanted to get the K-Sports on the car finally. The install went pretty great, the fronts were on and dialed in within an hour or so. The backs we had a small problem with. We had no idea how the washers and grommets went on the strut. The seller only gave me one washer. So we ran into town and picked up some hardware. We got it figured out and installed the rest of the way and took it for a drive. She rides real well! Better than the other coilovers by a little bit. I did go 3/4" lower than what I was at before. My fender heights are currently 23.5" up front and 24" in the rear. But I still have about 2.5" of threads left. :D So I could easily go a lot lower. I'm going to buy some adjustable sway bar end links first (Massive I'm guessing), and get those camber arms installed before I do that. I haven't taken any pictures yet. When I do, I'll post them on here.

Ok thanks for the info! That makes me think it may be possible if I swap to 05.5+ knuckles... which is possible. I'm sure they're cheap at pullapart. But my shmancy new wheel bearings are in the ones on my car now... ugh. lol I'll probably just pass on it for now. I reaaaaaaaally need to save monies for a wedding and house and whatnot. As long as my car lasts, she'll be lower some day.

Thanks! Funny how that happens, I didn't want a big meaty tire, but I didn't want a tiny sidewall that would blowout on a pothole. Everyone I talked to recommended a 45 series tire. I wanted 195/45/16's, but they were about $200 more total than the 205/45/16's that I went with. It wasn't really worth the extra money to me. If these wheels were 16x8 the look would be perfect. (They're 16x7.5). But I've been really happy with these tires so far!

zx3_bmxrider Question for anyone who sees this. When my friend gets done moving, I'm going to be buying his K-sports for my car. But it just hit me... He has a MK1.5 Hatch. (Not sure on the exact year.) and mine is an 01.... so is it possible for them to even work? I know there's an Omni kit for the mk1.5 hatches to fit mk1 coilovers, I didn't know if there was a kit for the other way around

Many moons ago, Me and drew (Andrew Moulton [spelling?) and another guy started hanging out on Fridays in parking lots for a bit. We posted on some local boards back in the day and wound up hooking up with Marty and - boom - FX was born lol. I got to see that car go from mild to wild, and when I met Marty I met Justin who had a supercharged SVT which he blew up (I think he blew it up twice lol). Those were the golden days, ha!

I posted in the fx thread a couple of times at random but I never did much following up. I have a ton of pics if I can ever find them of our cars in the old days when we first started meeting up. Which admittedly will be pretty boring since they're all nearly stock focuses sitting in parking lots LOL
Ahhhhhhhhh! Okay yeah I know who you are. I know I've talked to you recently, because I saved a picture of that shirt on my computer. I had never seen those shirts until you showed me then. That's awesome though to meet an OG member though! And I don't mind, I'd still love to see the pictures some time. I mean nowadays there's still quite a few stock looking foci going to meets. Although maybe 10 people go. Lol It's cool to meet a member who has been a member of FX longer than me... I sometimes feel like an older member when all the new members we had join the Facebook page last winter. But its cool though, most of them have been going to meets this year.

I joined FX right after Focusfest of 2011. I only had my car a few months, and didn't know about FX yet but I knew about Focus Fanatics. I went to FocusFest and about a week later Caleb (I think it was him anyways) saw I lived in KY and told me to join. From there on out I always tried to attend meets. A lot of the senior members started doing other things, and when I remade my Facebook in the fall of 2012, I started helping plan meets from time to time if Caleb needed help. Then Caleb kinda went MIA, and I started doing all the planning myself. It's cool though, Dustin runs the Evansville side of things, which is needing more members. My goal is to have a lot of Evansville members and Cinci members, so we can have meets in all 3 cities each month, so nobody has to drive hours for a meet. And then we can have one huge meet once or twice a year.... but yeah that's kind of all just talk. We need the numbers first. haha Anyways that's my FX story.

Hopefully you go to the last FX meet of the season with us!
