Try 6 or 8 turns

Mine took several attempts to get it...not going to lie it was frustrating.

What I did was get all 3 keys together and picked a day that I didn't have to work but had to do several errands. Each time I had to start the car I went through the programming process in the instructions.

I think it was the 4th or 5th time before it actually worked.

I was getting close to the point of just going back to the locksmith and having the transponder computer programmed.
Thanks!

It was frustrating, especially since the locksmith was having the same problem I was. I knew it wasn't me, it was either the key or the car. I emailed Welly and he replied quickly, said it does sometime happen that way. Not too often, but it is possible.

In the end, though, I was all in about $170 USD for the key, which is expensive but cheaper than what Ford charges for a standard key. And like you, I have a key which they don't even offer. Cool can be expensive.

Got it done

Well, I got my key cut and it worked right away. The cost was $45 + tax, so around $48. That was the easy part.

I tried to use Welly's instructions, to the letter. I also drove the car around for a while, since another user said that could help program the transponder. Spent about 30 minutes to set it up myself, and even the locksmith tried to set it up with the instructions. So, I had him flash the computer to add the key. It kind of sucks that it didn't work, but of course he had the right tools. Cost me another $65 + tax ($70). Oh well, at least the key is usable now. I like it a lot, even though it's a lot more expensive than I first thought. It does still cost a hell of a lot less than a dealer for a standard key, though. Everything's relative.
