My 2012 Titanium is stuck in my driveway because of the parking aide problem. It looks like I have to get it towed to the dealer.
the engine will turn over but will not start. I'm taking it that this most likely is a TCM problem. Ive got 105,000 on it with the only issue being the transmission problem.
Am I missing anything before I get it towed?

IDK what question was asked, and why the answer given, just know that warranties no longer need to be transferred for a fee to a second owner.
They extend from date put into service recorded in the mfr. system until the appropriate time or the mileage that applies expires.
Ford has prev. covered vehicles for the TCM issue that were under salvage titles to a second owner, and salvage title usually voids ALL warranties.
A Dealer could answer the cost question, and would prob. mention it as covered IF that was the issue until the extension runs out.

|bomzic||Thanks. Can I ask how many mileage you had on your vehicle at the time of replacement?|

|bomzic||Thanks for your reply. I just contacted the ford.com but they told me that I do not have the extended warranty since I am the second owner of the vehicle. If the problem is from the TCM, do you have know what will be cost of repairing the car without warranty coverage?|

No dealer visit = prob. no repair.
Since the likely issue (TCM) has a warranty extension to 10/150k hanging onto it as Yard Art seems silly.
Check out this "stickie" on the warranty extension:http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/m...tcm-14m02.html
You were actually covered under the emissions warranty for the TCM to 70k so it was closer t the std. warranty than you think.
Unless you have an unrelated issue like a dead battery, that should do it.
Hate a "same issue" post as the 134th in the thread since a couple different issues have been covered here. IF you have a CEL and/or a Parking aid malfunction warning, and it won't start now, the TCM is the likely culprit.

I am having the same issue with my Focus 2012 SEL. Its is only equipped with rear parking sensors and does not star. No cold weather, no dust on the sensors! I have 70k mileage on my car so the warranty has been expired already. Can anyone help me out what the problem might be?
I do not want to take it to the dealer. I really appreciate it.

You got so carried away that you forgot to mention WHY "it's a paperweight" now.
If you HAVE symptoms of TCM failure, it needs to go in to be checked for that & likely get a replacement.
This thread started out with info. on that warning being related, primarily on cars without the parking system. It also attracted posts on cars that DID have the system & have problems with it.

I got the "Parking aid malfunction Service required" message this morning. It was the worst feeling ever. I phoned a dealer and they said it wasn't the TCM. I'm trying to find another dealer who knows more about the issue before towing it to them.
The last time I went to a dealer for a faint noise coming from the dashboard, it came back with oil dripping on the light pot knob and a loud rattling noise, like squishing a bottle of water...
The time before that, after an oil change "the Works", the rear mud flap was bent and the runner along the passenger side was about an inch apart from the frame... it's held together with black duct tape now.
So I'm a bit hesitant to take it in, even though its just a big paper weight now, unless somebody in one of the service departments has a good idea on how to fix this. Anybody have any thoughts on what to do next?
