sailor If you're having shifting/starting problems the TCM is prob. involved.

If your car does NOT have parking assist, it's even more definite.

IDK warranty status for Canadians, think it's similar to U.S. with the TCM covered for an extended time.

bbeboi Hi guys, having the same issue as everyone on this thread and would like some advice on the matter. I brought in my 2012 Focus Ti to the dealership today because of park assist malfunction, and was told there were multiple errors coming up. They aren't sure whats causing them and they want to replace the "PAM module" in the rear of the vehicle because it MIGHT be what's causing the problem. I told them to check the TCM module but I was just given an explanation to why it couldn't be the TCM. So I'm stuck to either pay almost $800.00 to replace the unit or just keep driving it until something else happens. Should I pay to replace it or not?

This is really frustrating since I don't want to pay $800 for an "it might" be what's causing the problem and I don't feel safe driving it with my family in it.

Dammit Ford really.

Argh...

Thanks for any help guys

aaron.b Went in for the update today and that's done. Also learned the reason for my parking aid malfunction. A broken wire behind the bumper on one of the backup sensors.

That is my concern. The service rep told me that I told him not to do the update. I didn't recall saying this. I did say don't do anything to the mft but the tcm is not related

Yes i understand that. Right now my car isn't saving any codes regarding the parking aid malfunction warning. If it's the tcm I understand this update will save those codes. Not sure why the update wasn't done one of the last three times my car has been into the dealer. This could have been caught before I hit 150,000 miles.

If you've had 15B22 applied you should be getting TCM problem warnings if your issue is the TCM.
