MakatoMotors I think if anyone can get program how to from one of the dealers who have had success activating CC, that others could take in to have swapped would be awesome. I wanna pull the trigger on a ST wheel with CC, but only if they can activate cruise as it is the main reason for me getting that wheel.

dgeorgion I had the cruise control steering wheel installed by my dealer and they went into the BCM and set the cruise to on but the cruise control is still not working. Did they not do it right? Is there something else that needs to be set? They also said that FORD told them that adding cruise was not possible. I have an SE with bluetooth and was just adding the cruise control. Thanks for you help.

pbfoot I would pick a different dealer than who you spoke to. Call Tousley Ford. You have to take it to the dealer or use a custom tuner. It is basically telling the ecu yes or no that speed control is present. The programming is already there. Period.

pbfoot Boomertwo. The reflash only tells the ecu that the speed control is now present. How do you think the dealers install it on a base model? The throttle by wire actually makes things easier. On my 2002,with a cable operated throttle, you have to get the steering wheel, and all of the wiring and cables under the hood, so the tech you spoke to is full of it. just do it.

Can you get Steve to supply you with the step by step instructions for the reflash of the computer? Does the image for the computer need to come from donor cars ECU's that does have cruise control? (This is what the parts guys from my ford dealer told me.)

The steering wheel change over should be easy enough but its the computer reflash that bothers me. Also the ford tech I spoke to named Joe said that he didn't recommend doing anything like this since the cars have a electronic throttle instead of a throttle cable attached to the gas pedal. He basically said he wouldn't want the car speeding out of control because of trying to add cruise control to a car that didn't come with it that has this type of setup. (However I have a 5 speed manual and if this happened I would just throw out the clutch and take it out of gear and then come to a stop and turn the car off.)

merruse I done that before but my car was diesel. And wiring should be different from US specs.

Boomertwo While I know about the rostra option from a few forum post but I really don't like the idea of making a hole to mount the stock to the column.

I am really interested in knowing if just adding the steering wheel and reprogramming the ECU works or not? Can anyone please post a confirmation of this route working?

If it does can you please provide step by step instructions so that I can print them out and either do it my self or have my dealership do it?
