Flipping DCTs?

Why didn't the dealer you "stole" yours from just buy a tune from you instead and then sell the car for a better price to someone else? If they weren't interested before, now they sould be after seeing your results.

If you could do that repeatedly could you make a business out of "flipping" Mk3 Focuses with "bad" DCTs? Maybe you could even buy them cheap by the fleet from Ford dealers who don't know what to do with them. There must be a lot of them out there by now. (It'd be fun to slip a turbo kit into one or two along the way, too.)

"Ever", like with any of the past cases we've seen, or not ever, even with any future attempts?

If never, do you think that is because they don't intend to? Or that they want to but don't know how?

I don't remember it taking you very long to come up with your solution after you started looking into it seriously. Seems with all the talented engineers Ford has working for them they should be able to figure it out too.

I realize they could not commit to customizing the tune for each car individually like you do, but I've worked with many software designers over the years who could analyze what you have done and create software that could get a computer to do the same thing. Maybe that automation of what you do would not fit into the TCM, but it could at least be done off line I would think.

Hey Turbo Focus, I appreciate the info on here. So you are saying it would be wise of me to get your tune right after I buy a new 16 Focus. Which I would do if I got one. I have ran across a few other posts on other forums saying that a tune like yours is a drastic improvement. I'm still a little hesitant...

And this is why I will not be buying another Ford.

As for your tune, I can't do it right now. Honestly, I'll probably end up dumping the Focus around the end of the year.

You asked for thoughts and I told you mine. If you want to ignore it or downplay what I've experienced with my Focus, that's up to you. I, however, will not be buying another Ford.

Now now. all of the big 3 have got issues. Just google search "Active Fuel Management" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Based on my experience with my 2014 Focus, I'd say don't buy it. As a matter of fact, I doubt I will ever buy a Ford again.

I have an early-production 2012, and I'd happily buy a 2016 Focus. I say go for it.

Dont buy one, mine works alright but if i had to do it over i would absolutely avoid it, buy a stick if you really want a focus
