Krusty Driver Been riding a 2012 Norco Shinobi 1 for the last year and a half. Awesome bike for just about anything. Great for up here in B.C.

ElectricAL It's a "jonesy" time of the year for the off-road riders, I know. Up here in the frozen north land, that whole "fat biking" thing has really taken off in a big way. I wish I had one, truth be told. But a lot of our trails get groomed and/or packed in by the fat bike tracks well enough that a 2.1 - 2.4 tire can do just fine on the trail.

I bought myself an out-of-date technology, but fairly high end used bike and put some Nokian studded tires on it at the beginning of last winter. It's been my winter sanity for two winters now. Just getting in 1-2 rides a week... but it still is enough to conquer winter and have a blast in it rather than just tolerate it.

Meanwhile, if you can't get out for your off-road fix... consider a trainer. I bought a cheap one off of Amazon last year. It works alright. But I still way prefer bundling up and getting outside for the fresh air and scenery.

Here's what the super hard-core folks do up here in the winter:

Yellow-ZX3 Me and my wife were really heavy into mountain biking when we were in Austin.....loved going to the Walnut Creek Park atleast 2-4 times a week. When we were there I rode a 2007 Haro V3 and she rode a 2005 Haro V3. We then moved out to the desert to Midland, Tx where there wasn't much mountain biking to be had so we slacked off for about 5 years. Now we moved up to Fort Worth in April of last year and have now started to get back into it again.

While we were in midland i used my Christmas bonus to get me a 2011 Haro Flightline Comp 29er and after we moved up here my wife used her sign on bonus to get her a 2013 Trek Cali SL 29er. So far all we have been riding is Gateway Park to get used to everything again since it has been about 6 years now.

need some more DFW peeps to chime in...i am always up for a group ride.

I also need to get some pics of the bike rack i built for the truck too....i have a roof rack to go on the focus but it was on our Mazdaspeed 3 previously so i need to get the new attachments for it.

02fordsvt Tell me about it. We've only gotten above 15 degrees maybe twice in the last three weeks or so. I can't for the warm weather to get the bike out again.

Shim@Fifteen52 I have been mountain biking quite a bit in the last year. I used to ride a few years back... 4-5 or so, but got lazy.

Current bike. 2012 XTC Composite 29er. And a ride from last week when ice melted and turned the trail to mud.

02fordsvt Haha. Don't worry, I can't afford something like that yet. Keep us posted on how it goes though. That's something I'd consider in the future.
