2012 Ford Focus shaking problems

It's not normal and it's a lie. It was so bad that I thought I was going to have and accident and it vibrated from my foot via my leg, back to my head and affected my nerves. I returned the car several times as well and finally left the keys in the office, since no one was available and the car parked on their lot. Four times already without looking for a contributing cause is silly, but that can happen when people don't THINK and just keep doing the same std. suggested "fix" over & over.

Seen a few reported by now that needed extra work (like replacing an actuator/actuating mech), and a couple reports of deeper issues that required more repair/replacement (output shaft bearing for example).

How many other "multiple repair" ones COULD have been fixed earlier?

We'll never know.

Definitely smart on people if the fleet operators didnt bother to even get it looked at and discounted their cars because of how crappy it felt.

I think there were a lot more problematic Focii during the '12 and '13 model years. I have seen many posts about good results with revision "F" , it may well be that "finally" a true fix is available.

skramblr Just anecdotal, but I was at my dealership two days ago and my Mustang is waiting on a part (pinion gear). Was talking with the service manager about the part being back-ordered and he mentioned they've been replacing a lot of clutches on the Focus. They had several in the ship waiting on clutches. This, in a city of 12k people. Does not seem normal to me.

Well my 3rd cousin works at a chevy dealer and knows a ford tech who says he only fixes them once a month...

See what I did there? While there is no arguing that the DCT is more problematic than probably should be. Making blanket statements like that are wrong and really provide ZERO insight. Ford sells roughly 20000 focus's a month. If the problem were so widespread you would see a lot more action on it. My company uses mainly focus's for its fleet since 2012 and still buys tons today. So I do have a valid data set to look at and when I asked my fleet guy about them he said that the Focus in his experience is only slightly more problematic than the vehicles he has used in the past and only slightly higher than some of the C-maxs we have too. These are cars driven hundreds of miles a day and are constantly being pushed and stopped and started...
