moshichiu Hi, I am a newbie. Can I click start and stop several times for recording data in order to get data of different phases in one file?

You did setup the datalog but the "knock sensor" is always showing zero. which I highly doubt is possible.

Kent253 Anybody know how to datalog knock retard on the X3 with a 2014 Duratec Focus?

iminhell No.
If you're getting a tune, just buy that. It'll save you $50 on the scantool.

LiveLink is SCT's datalogging/OBDII software. It also scans codes.

Download --> http://www.sctflash.com/software/LiveLink.exe

You won't be able to use it unless you have a Xcal, which you'll get when you get your tune. You can download, instal and open the software to look through it though. It won't be exact to you car but, open the software and click on "Commands", roll down to "Configure Datalog Items For Strategy" when the box pops up type in "KRAF4" (a zetec cal id). That will give you some idea of what you're able to datalog, and actually you will be able to log many more things that show up there.

With the Xcal itself, you can scan for codes. No other software needed.

Basically, the Xcal will do everything you want, no outside help needed.

The problem with the software is that there are extra costs for 'Ford Enhanced Data', which is very beneficial but not always needed.
Here is a generalized list of Enhanced Data --> http://www.palmerperformance.com/sup...d_enhanced.php
And Generic OBDII --> http://www.palmerperformance.com/sup...neric_pids.txt

So for a software/tool similar to the dataloging capabilities of the Xcal and LiveLink (which is free), you're looking at spending $214.85.
You will have no personal support.
No tuning ability.
No resale value, the license terms are for you and you only for the software.

The Xcal is a better value for the money IMO.

You can datalog ANY Ford vehicle with the Xcal and LiveLink, but you can only tune yours.
I was mostly concerned with reading codes and checking basic things like airflow and recording which the obdwiz software (included) appears to do. I want this basic functionality always- I dont want to depend on a contracted tuner for these things. I will however want a tune too. Seems like I might want both of these then.

I'm unfamiliar with the SCT tuning software and devices. I was considering buying this: http://www.scantool.net/scan-tools/obdlink-sx.html

But if the basic functionality is something we get anyways when we buy a tune I would not need this.
