steve35svt I don't feel new drivers should start with r-comps. A street tire will teach that smoothness counts most to go fast. They will help beat other novice drivers but learning how to be smooth will help you compete with the top drivers when your ready for a set of r-comps.

Very true...I ran completely stock and beat a full race preped miata...and a Scion TC with some bolt ons and suspension. My first time out in the car.

BlackJack03 TIRES...yes, buy those Kumho's right away. I think tires are the most important autocross mod, and if you left everything else stock you'd be surprised at how good of a fight you could put up against your competition.

My recommendation is to do that first, drive it as is, and see if you really think you need other mods. Autocross isn't about the car--it's about the driver.

soulonfire11 What about springs? Also I found a set of Kumho R-compound tires, would those be too overkill? because my friend was going to sell me the set for 200 bucks.

Also what about safety equipment? and more supportive seats?

Sorry for all the questions, But thanks everyone for the help!

steve35svt MOOG front sway bar links and Koni STR-t if the shocks and struts are worn. Koni's are on sale now at Tire Rack. Just put a set of those struts on for that reason. Yellows are better but costly. Most important is to drive events. Talk to and ride with experienced drivers!

soulonfire11 What suspension would you recommend? I'm on somewhat of a tighter budget due to this being my daily and not my project......yet haha

steve35svt In stock, you can change shocks and the front sway bar. But not coil over shocks. Wheel size that came with the car when new. All tires need a DOT number to run, r-comps and street tires both.

soulonfire11 Well Id like to be in the stock class. From what I understand, you can swap parts from any trim of the same model car.

high performance tires arent the same at a dot r compound tire

mikebontoft arent those the same thing? And again what class are you planning on then?

soulonfire11 It does have a lot of miles though so i thought freshening up the suspension with atleast the springs and struts.

As for tires, should i use a 15" rim with high performance street tires instead of a dot tire?
