Lol, but nah. Basic was fun as hell. And I had OSUT..so Drill Sergeants alll the waaaay throughhh for 22 weeks.

Aren't you planning on joining the Air Force? Air Force fitness test is composed of:
1. 1.5 Mile run (when I went through BMT it had to be completed under 11:47)
2. 1 minute of pushups (I believe the minimum in BMT was 45)
3. 1 minute of situps (Minimum in BMT was either 50 or 55, I can't remember)
4. Waist size (not very important, but must be 36" or less)
(BMT standards are slightly higher than AF standards)
You don't have to enter BMT in great shape. First time I ran in BMT my run was something like 16:20, but at the end of BMT it was 11:30. As long as you don't give up or cry about it being too difficult you'll be fine.
When I was in DEP I asked my recruiter the same question you did and he said: "If you're studying for an Algebra test would it be more beneficial to practice solving arithmetic problems or Algebra problems?" Best way to prepare for the AF fitness test is to run, do pushups, do situps.

Smh. Do not train for Basic. Go into it fat and out of shape. That's what makes it fun.
I came back roughly 30 lbs. skinnier. I was a twiggg.

|jmiller_1974||As was said, run, run, run. Endurance is what will get You through basic. Oh, and the ability to perform under stress, so there's a bit of a psychological hurdle to get past coupled with the physical. It also probably wouldn't hurt to get used to running in combat boots.|

|nov173||don't worry so much about how much you can bench or deadlift. Work on muscle endurance. You want to be able to handle the demands of HIGH rep activities that you WILL be enduring. You don't need to be strong to get through it, but you want to be able to exceed the minimum scores. Get your two mile run down to 14minutes and below. Be able to do at least 80 pushups in 2 minutes and even more situps in the same amount of time. It sounds like it's impossible but you can get there in a couple months no problem. Don't go in there looking to just get by... go in there wanting to be the best!|
