WUGcatsvt ^^Stock, :) Sounds louder at high RPMs. This car is a trailered Track queen running HS.

WUGcatsvt Update on tires for the Cobalt.

The Tires were Hankook R-S3s.They are one of the best street tires you can use.

GodLovesUgly some are supercharged. other are turbo'd
these were turbo's per the OP and my comments..

but that's not entirely true. there are cars that can carry WAY more speed into corners.
fwd usually can. ie the ST class favorite, 89 prepped civic si's
also check out how much speed an elise can carry into and out of a corner.
on a good autox course there aren't any "straights" well at least not perfect straights!
most of the time the experienced drivers can find a straight that LOOKS like an offset.

WUGcatsvt The latest SS are Turbo like the one in the video. They have more power then the SC ones.

Yeah, isn't the Cobalt Supercharged? And given the short course the cobalt doesn't really have room to really take advantage of the extra power. That's where driver skill is clearly at play in this case. Because no matter what you need to take those corners at around the same speed and since there's not a lot of straights the power in this case is not an advantage.

GodLovesUgly yep, 2 seconds on a 60 second course, and that's about what that was.

i've driven a fully prepped DS colbalt SS turbo, and IMO it's easier to get the svt to rotate. rotating a fwd car is key.

and definitely the colbalt SS would beat the svt focus on a road course. but turbo the svt and i'd be singing a different tune.

sleepyboy ^^opps didn't catch that. Well then you can still see him fighting the SS more than the svt. The SVT looks like it's going so smoothly through the turns, where in the SS he's fighting more with under steer and such.

Per the OP, its the same driver in each frame. Also note that the SVT had race tires and the SS was on street tires. Rcomps are good for 2 seconds in most cases :D

sleepyboy You can see how much more relaxed the SVT driver was, I'm surprised since wasn't the SS supposed to the be the fastest FWD around the 'ring?
