Some kits come with the wrong nut. It may be the incorrect "taller" nut. Go to the dealer and get the correct "shorter" nut. Or re-use the old nut.
It can be changed with the strut installed and wheels on the ground. Just use a wrench and Allen wrench.

|rcksvtcontour||I just installed my ford racing kit and came to the same issue. What i did was put the nut in a lathe and cut of the extra metal they added on the ford racing nut and made it the same height as the stock. Ill post a pic tomorrow|

|tjboston5676||when i installed mine (didnt come pre-assembled) thats as far as mine went and just the other day i saw someone posting with the same problem so this seems to be pretty common. i havent had any problems with them coming undone or anything|

I'll have to take them out, and have a better look at them.
If they are crossthreaded, that would be kinda crappy, since they don't have any type of warranty.
