Sniper Focus No difference as long as the layout is the same. A circuit board can come in all colors... They just had a different shade of green at the time.

reddy1 Alright well I now have joined the 10 dollar cougar club I took it apart just to make sure everything was clean so I dony have to take it out again... Now I have a delima and that is while I have both boards off should I use my og board or the cougar board the coigar board seams to have a slightly darker background than the focus board which is just green in the background. (Tried to post a picture but it didn't like it) thanks so much for all the help im super excited to see how my car was ment to work :)

Sniper Focus ^^ That's for the cruise control....

The IMRC is located under the "Duratec V6" engine cover. Much easier to get to than in our cars.

Sniper Focus Skip desoldering and knock the epoxy out.... less chance of damaging the PCB with heat too.

Got this one out of a Cougar for a spare, $11 bucks. Looks like a cable swap would take only a few minutes if you really wanted to use the SVT one.

Pin outs are the same. Just pulled one from a 1999 V6 Cougar out of the junk yard. The cable is about an inch longer which doesn't cause any issues as long as you route the slack properly. Plug and play, and I got mine for 10 bucks! I did have to pull it apart and clean some fuzz insulation stuff that appeared to have come from underneath the motor. A piece got caught in the contact.

An update for people with motors that pull, hold for a few seconds and then let go again: That's because the self test failed to see the contact inside the unit closing. It then shuts off the unit and throws the famed code. My original unit was not pushing power to the motor inside at all. The used unit I picked up just needed the fluff cleaned out from between the contacts and it worked immediately. Both failures throw the same code.

reddy1 To those of you who got a new one and then found this thread anyone still selling for parts? (The plastic guy that pulls the wire inside the actual imrc module is a goner)
