NixSVT further thingies that have happened since my posting....

talked with a Ford friend who years ago had an Escort or Fiesta or something (wife's car) with similar clutch/shift/tranny issues, he asked if my probs happened when it was cold..... I remember several nights of below freezing temps....and now things have warmed up-he told me to verify fluid level(which has been fine all along) - then take it for a drive, so that's what I did.... and everything's as if nothing ever happened !! W T F

so that's my update.....the SVT runs -- and more important, shifts - as if nothing ever happened, after sitting for nearly 2 weeks.

Aside from my Ranger all previous manual trans rigs utilized linkage/bellcrank/pushrod systems with little plastic bushings that required replacement depending on use - and that was it.....now it's hydraulics and I-don't-know-what....but I'm learning !!

but to my relief my rig's doing fine !!!

in any case, I'm still hoping someone out there in the PNW Region of FocusFanatics might help to recommend a knowledgeable / reliable repair place..........

NixSVT Hi All !! I'm Nick, live south of Olympia. Joined the site shortly after buying my ride and admit to only recently checking out the group, I'm impressed with what info's out there, I enjoy reading various posts from fellow FOCUS folks. I have (had?) plans for some upgrades/tweaks based on what I've been learning - heck, I'd pay to be a member for the info I've gained so far !!
This SVT is my first FWD and I LOVE that 6-spd !! I've added 6000 miles to its odometer - just hit 78,000 miles couple days ago. Got it from Diehl Ford in Bellingham last October, after a tedious search for a fun but economical DD; according to CARFAX I'm 3rd owner. My work site is nearly 80 miles round trip and after my Ranger got totaled when rear ended by a teenager who thought it more important to yack on his celtel than drive - oops, I'll get off the drive/chat soapbox now - I decided a to go with a FOCUS......
all's been well, - great MPG, lotsa power, agility...... in stock form, no less..... make driving sooooo much better....
but here's my new dilemma......
SHIFTING problems !!!
Noticed occasionally that the clutch pedal needed "some help" to fully return, used foot to lift it; few weeks ago noticed getting into 3rd required "that special touch"; couple days ago I barely got back to the house - trouble shifting/downshifting all gears, so now I'm in panic mode and parked it. I'm forced to drive my 92 F250, 4WD LB - with that gas loving 460 inch monster...

don't mean to ramble but I wanted to give some background info....

so my question is......

Anyone in SouthPugetropolis area who's a reliable/knowledgeable person/business where I can get my SVT worked on ??
Called Mullinax Ford in Oly, $105 (an hour's labor charge) to diagnose - and of course they won't give me a ballpark estimate, but at that hourly rate I'll go broke very quickly, despite its MPG...and that's after I pay to haul it 25+ miles to & from house.

so at present I'm happy (more like relieved) that fuel is still @ decent price - that 460 is going through it about triple the MPG my good ole' SVT uses !!

I'm hoping to locate someone I can rely on for service/repairs now and in the future; that outfit will have gained a dedicated customer !!

thanx to all who read this post and big THANX to anyone who can help me !!

Get the carrier bearings, speed sensor & the ford spendy oil. I just split the case & removed the diff & r&r the ring gear onto the diff w/ threadlock & while the case was on the end of the trans bench, I sucked out the remaining trans fluid & cleaned up the mating surfaces & then installed the diff & used the powerstroke sealant= thats what I had. Then installed it & added the trans oil & reinstalled it all back together. It is worth it. I've had a mustang w/ a 8.8 & added a torsen.
