xsuicidesn0wmanx If you're going to have a bung welded on, make sure you get one first, I had a hell of a time finding one and none of the shops I went to had something I could use. Maybe the shops here just suck but to be safe, it isnt that hard to obtain one, apparently they just screw out of the oem header.

I originally had done the EGR Delete except for the tune, couldnt afford it. Had ended up throwing away the egr tubing & valve. Although I was able to find enough parts to put it back together, ended up costing almost as much as getting the tune would have.

I did however figure out that the egr tube from an 02 would work with the 01, I had read elsewhere it might not work but mine works fine.

Blue5ive I would like to know how much it is supposedly reducing temps since it is adding hotter air to the intake charge than ambient air temps. Only way I see it is if its reducing complete combustion of the mix.

sgtsmasher i dont see how at all, that it helps with cylinder head temps...what the egr does is, from my understanding. taking a half and half mix of burnt gas and unburnt gas from the engine, and returning it through the egr tube, into the ufo looking thing then to the intake manifold. which in turn is getting sucked back into the engine...and from the ufo looking thing, there is small rubber hose that goes to a sensor.

2002FordFocusZX3 Deleting your egr valve will just give you worse fuel economy it only works while you are cruising anyway it is shut off at wot and idle and the egr also helps keep cylinder head tempuratures down

amc49 It may work, only about 3-4 psi there............DPFE mainly looking for the DIFFERENCE in pressures. I don't agree with the later O2 sensor failing inspect statement though, they would automatically make up for the extra air. Only by checking for NOx could it be found.

trooper T/diesel any one tried deleting the EGR but still having it??

IE the system is still there making the computer happy, but its pulling in air from the intake?

ok thanks. ive been doing alot of research on this.. probly goin to get egr welded in. but the guy that does my inspection i kno him really well, so hed pass it but if it throws a code he cant pass it.. the inspection stuff goes through the computer in NC.

did the focus throw a code when you block off the egr and if so how do you get rid of it to pass emissions?
