mkaresh Everyone who has been helping to provide these stats, thanks.

We especially need more participants for the 2002-2011 and the 2016 and up. To join, if you haven't already:

barbasnoo No issues here. My 2012 Focus has had normal maintenance, a tranny re-flash to fit my driving style, and I had to top off my brake fluid once. Other than that, 107k miles in so far. Just had some paint work done, but that's it.

Sparrow Who would assume that?!
Everyone was critisizing Ford Focus RS.
Somebody was calling this car not worthy one comparing to ST.
BUT, RS is a great success in 2016.
It's a steep and fast car)

mkaresh We've updated our reliability stats for the Focus to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

2015 Focus (includes ST): 23, low
2014 Focus: 25 (includes ST), low
2013 Focus: 50, moderate
2013 Focus ST: 32, low
2012 Focus: 57, moderate
2010 Focus: 24, low
2009 Focus: 22, low, small sample size
2008 Focus: 23, low, small sample size
2007 Focus: 75, moderate
2006 Focus: 78, moderate, very small sample size
2005 Focus: 48, low, small sample size
2004 Focus: 58, low, very small sample size
2003 Focus: 91, moderate
2002 Focus: 123, high, very small sample size
2001 Focus: 133, high, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2014 Focus (includes ST): 85, < 1
2013 Focus: 63, < 1
2013 Focus ST: 68, < 1
2012 Focus: 62, 3
2007 Focus: 55, 12

No stat, or a small sample size? Then we especially need more owners involved for that model year.

mkaresh We've updated our reliability stats for the Focus to include owner experiences through September 30, 2015. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2015 Focus: 17, low, small sample size
2014 Focus: 22, low
2013 Focus: 55, moderate
2013 Focus ST: 42, moderate
2012 Focus: 61, moderate
2010 Focus: 27, low
2009 Focus: 44, low, small sample size
2008 Focus: 22, low, small sample size
2007 Focus: 61, moderate
2006 Focus: 80, moderate, small sample size
2005 Focus: 77, moderate, small sample size
2004 Focus: 109, moderate, small sample size
2003 Focus: 72, low
2002 Focus: 139, high, very small sample size
2001 Focus: 138, high, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2014 Focus: 80, < 1
2013 Focus: 63, < 1
2013 Focus ST: 60, 3
2012 Focus: 58, 4
2007 Focus: 65, 4

We'll have further updates in February and in May. Additional participants are needed to provide precise stats for all model years.

mkaresh Our reliability stats for the Focus now cover the year ending June 30, 2015.

Repair trips per 100 cars:

2014 Focus: 24, low
2013 Focus: 56, moderate
2013 Focus ST: 47, moderate
2012 Focus: 50, moderate
2010 Focus: 32, low
2009 Focus: 58, moderate, small sample size
2008 Focus: 46, low
2007 Focus: 54, low
2006 Focus: 57, low, small sample size
2005 Focus: 114, high, small sample size
2004 Focus: 142, high, small sample size
2003 Focus: 97, moderate
2002 Focus: 141, high, very small sample size
2001 Focus: 105, moderate, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2014 Focus: 81, < 1
2013 Focus: 63, 2
2013 Focus ST: 59, 2
2012 Focus: 66, 2
2007 Focus: 63, 3

If a model year's sample size is small, then we especially need more owners involved.

mkaresh So, how have these cars been doing lately?

Our reliability stats for the Focus now include owner experiences through March 31, 2015. (Others are nearly a year behind.)

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year ("low" is best):

2014 Focus: 29, low
2013 Focus: 38, moderate
2013 Focus ST: 34, moderate
2012 Focus: 52, moderate
2010 Focus: 29, low
2009 Focus: 64, moderate, small sample size
2008 Focus: 35, low
2007 Focus: 57, moderate
2006 Focus: 57, low, small sample size
2005 Focus: 80, moderate, small sample size
2004 Focus: 155, high, very small sample size
2003 Focus: 118, high
2002 Focus: 146, high, small sample size
2001 Focus: 117, moderate, very small sample size
2000 Focus: 76, low, very small sample size

Plus, the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2014 Focus: 76, < 1
2013 Focus: 70, 2
2013 Focus ST: 68, < 1
2012 Focus: 59, < 1
2007 Focus: 69, 7

No stat for a model year? Then we very much need more participants for it. Same for those with small sample size notes. Next updates in late August and November.

mkaresh Ford tweaked the Focus for 2015. But have many people here bought the updated car?

We especially need more of them. While we have 93 2014s signed up to help, we have only seven 2015s so far. We can't provide any stats with just seven cars.

So if you have a 2015, I hope you'll join. (If you have a different year, your participation would also be helpful.)

As stated in the OP, participants receive free access to all of the resulting information, for all cars, not just the Focus.

mkaresh We've updated our reliability stats for the Focus to include owner experiences through the end of 2014. Plus we've added reliability trends graphs. These indicate how a model's reliability has changed as it has aged, and how different model years performed when the same age.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2014 Focus: 34, moderate
2013 Focus: 32, moderate
2013 Focus ST: 43, moderate
2012 Focus: 39, moderate
2010 Focus: 32, low
2009 Focus: 81, high, small sample size
2008 Focus: 28, low
2007 Focus: 59, moderate
2006 Focus: 60, moderate, small sample size
2005 Focus: 91, moderate, small sample size
2004 Focus: 156, high, very small sample size
2003 Focus: 100, moderate
2002 Focus: 132, high, small sample size
2001 Focus: 117, moderate, very small sample size
2000 Focus: 54, low, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2014 Focus: 60, < 1
2013 Focus: 77, < 1
2013 Focus ST: 60, < 1
2012 Focus: 68, < 1
2007 Focus: 67, 4

We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

mkaresh Sorry for the delay, I just saw your question.

We've always excluded problems fixed through free software updates. If MFT repairs were included, the repair frequencies for the 2012 and up would be considerably higher.
