Except with hvac units higher restriction equals more load/strain on the system. Of course some people like or need the better filtration for allergies and such. Also good eule of thumb is your electric bill should only be 10-15% of the square footahe of your house. Thats with average use and average 74-78 temps inside.

SvviftSVT we use high end (more for the allergen perspective) and don't have issues.
our unit seems to work better with the higher end ones

Blue5ive And for post number 3........Paul, dont use those higher end filters. They severely restricted airflow which makes your unit work way harder. All that extra strain leads to early failures and reduced efficiancy. Just use the cheapy filter and change it more often.
