Hi all,
attached is a picture of my new white 15 SE 1L 6 spd manual. I was scrambling for a car after my 05 Vue (5spd) was totaled. I have always liked hatchbacks, and having not had to buy a car for myself since 05 was really interested in what was available.
I drive 50 miles a day now but that is going to go to 100 in december, so i was looking for better mileage.
I drove a 14 hatchback with the DCT as a rental and liked it, but was put of by comments here about the DCT. 5 spd manuals are nonexistant and so are the 6 spds.
I test drove every thing from a Mazda6( fun but too much interior noise for a long commute),Hyndai GT,Cruze, Corrolla,Prius, PriusC,Fiat500,Kia forte,to a Kia Soul. I actually work for Toyota but just couldn't swing a deal.
I setlled on a 17 Elantra and was going to sign the papers. The morning of I coudn't sleep and was browsing when I found the focus,
called the dealer that morning to confirm that it was indeed a manual and arranged a test drive and purchased it that afternoon. I could not pass on the deal because it was an unsold 15 and also a manual.
Yeah it is not going to win any races but in the 1000 miles i have put on it so far I am averaging 37MPG.My commute home in the afternoon has been stop and go in traffic. Besides if i want to race I'll take my wifes Sienna ( look up Sienna and OneLap)
I am not planning any mods beyond darker tint and maybe racing stripes for the irony. I look foward to a long relationship.
By the way I did get to drive a 14 2L 5 spd I am glad i gave up on that US 23 can be a parking lot somedays and that clutch would have not made for a fun drive. The clutch on the 6 spd is so light it is a non isssue

sailor OK, rechecked and it looks like the times are for your area - My activity today didn't start until much later by local time.

DID find where the descriptions are with more detail on how you get points and what your individual totals are. (been a while since I looked)

Click on User CP, then on your Profile.

Once there click on Participation to see the latest. That's where you found the -8 info..

In that section, if you click on "Activities" at the top of the recent points listing (LHS) it will take you to a detailed description area where you can find a LOT of information, with more clicks on individual types of points avail..

Lloydy1 Cheers for taking a look at it.

sailor I'm clueless, all that shows is a -8 at 09:50 AM here (Eastern time zone USA, daylight savings time) and more positive points to follow. That was almost 5 hrs. ago now.

Saw your friend request and accepted it this AM, for all I know you got extra points for asking and lost some of them back when it was accepted! The timing would be correct, got on about that time here.

There is some description of the system in the FAQ section, I never memorized all the items mentioned there.

"Participation" is the header you must have found that points info. under so far in the User CP area.
sailor The "points" system is wacky, complex, and 99% automated. Lots of items to get points added for, from making posts, making threads, getting replies to threads you made etc. etc.. Even filling out the user info. adds points.

Losing them isn't as common, and that can involve Moderators IF something like a warning is involved.

IDK how much you can access with a phone, options vary depending on the phone & hookup. Right now I see you with 19 posts and 63 points accumulated.

I'll take a look to see what I can see in your info., not all is public even to Mods that users can look at themselves.
Lloydy1 Thanks Sailor, I'm still trying to find my way around the forum controls (small phone/large hands). I notice you are an elder, have you any idea what the moderators take points off you for, I've been given a minus 7 , and can't seem to work out why .

sailor Cool!

We may not know much about your ride offhand but we'd like to hear more, and we can fill you in on anything from here.

Brit/Euro contingent isn't too large but we still have a fair number of regulars from all over.

Salutations fellow foci-keteers

Hi all,
my name is Gareth but everyone calls me Lloydy, I drive a mk2 ST500 which took me 6 months of hunting to find and I will never sell it. I was trawling the net looking for info on oil pressure gauges when I came across ff. Now when the missus is sat messing about on facebook I have something alot better. I am into all things Ford and like 67-72 American muscle cars. Anyway enough about me it's all about the cars.

sailor Excellent, just a continuation chassis from Shelby, eh?

Sounds like you found a retirement job that works for you, better than some of us.

csxwv I rather use CSWV but needed an extra letter to meet minimum for some sites
just threw something in I live on the NS (Norfolk and Southern)side never even thought of it. Shelby American uses csx for the chassis numbers. I have retired from two jobs so I just say to old to know better
