focusmaniaczx3 sry man i didnt want to sound like i was bickering. i just cant wrap my head around that. maby i got a freak focus thats faster than it should be.

streetracer based on what i just showed, a fwd focus with 110whp (such as a 2.0 atx with a few mods) would run over 11 seconds in the 1/8 if it is over around 2750lbs WITH the driver in the vehicle. considering my car weights 3000 lbs with me in it and i have a 2.3 with the turbo, im guessing a 2.0 zx4 would weigh around 2800-2900 with a driver

focusmaniaczx3 now wait a sec. i go to the track ALOT and its a 1/8th. a few weeks after i bought my zx3 i went to the track with it and was putting down 10.7ish. small bolt on mods and went from stockers to 18s heavy ass rims and still dropped to 10.4ish because i was getting better traction off the line. im down in the 9.8 range now and i can tell ya 100lbs of weight doesnt matter THAT much. when i go i usually strip the interior. back seats, gone. subs, gone. spare tire, tools, jack, hood, sometimes front bumper, gone. but i almost always take my lovely lady friend with me because she likes to ride. my best time was 9.820 with just me in the car. my average with her in the car with me is around 9.9-10.0 and she maby weighs around 130lbs. my GF gonna kill me for this but there it is. something else has to be going on to hold you back that much. there is no way a focus should run over 11 sec in the 1/8th stock even fully loaded with passengers. well fat passengers i would say 11.3

streetracer well yeah you wont see that much from just 100lbs. but from 125lbs and heavy wheels/tires you could see around .3-.4 seconds off the 1/8th.. and the rest could be just the how it was driven

mlbbaseball point being after all this, you don't see .52 seconds off in the 1/8th from just 100 lbs lost. its prolly due to inexperience.

streetracer using a 1/4 mile calculator. for a car with 110whp.

weight with driver - estimated ET
2500lbs - 16.49 seconds
2600lbs - 16.72 seconds
2700lbs - 16.92 seconds
2800lbs - 17.14 seconds
2900lbs - 17.34 seconds
3000lbs - 17.53 seconds

now remembering this is for the 1/4 milie we would need to adjust.

10.75x1.55=16.66 seconds. 11.27x1.55=17.46 seconds. so thats a .8 second difference.

so about .2-.3 of the .8 seconds you slowed down can be attributed to weight. then of course there is rotating mass with the wheels which can probably attribute to another .2-.3 seconds and the rest could be factors like launch rpms, how much spin you had, etc..

Insane Yeah not half a second.. thats huge in the 1/8th. I don't feel like reading through all of this but that plus any condition change like temp and elivation and even how good the gas was made can all make a difference. The gas dispersed during the summer is better than what is given in the winter.

mlbbaseball don't get me wrong, i think weight has alot to do w/ it, just not .5x seconds in the 1/8th. thats alot. unless you completely gutted ur car, and did a complete weight reduction. i saw about .4 seconds in teh 1/4th, only about .2 ish in the 1/8th.

Insane Can you run faster with 20 pounds tied to you? Nope. I don't think it gives you more HP as it does TQ. Though people can argue all day about the defference of hp and tq. I could revive my old thread about it again to see if people get talking.

Bwinkelsas and for me when my car was stock the best i did with my stock 16's was a 15.9 then with my 17's (svt rims) i did a best of 16.1 1/4 mile of course. so as everyone has said and ill say weight makes a difference, think about it this way? by yourself in the car vs. having two or three friends in the car. i know i can feel a difference in overall driving.
