dudemanzx3 That's weird cause on the sticker it says 2001 and that it is a 2.3L. I don't know if it's PZEV or something else. Also the car is at a Subaru and Audi dealership and they have a pretty good rep when it comes to used cars. - paposwing

Its not a pzev, they didn't come around until 03. You need to look under the hood.
zetec 2L motor
pzev 2.3L motor

pics of the two motors

all motor i dont think someone took that much time, to transplant one and then sell it off to a used car company, highly unlikely
08-03-2004 12:34 PM
Gage Possible transplant? Maybe the original Zetec or SPI blew up...

budzen yea man, there is no 2.3L in 01 foci..

all motor if it is a 2001 it is not a 2.3, look under the hood itll say zetec on the valve cover and the cover will be black, the duratecs have a mag valve cover thats blank, and a coil on plug ignition

dudemanzx3 So whoever told you their 2001 zx3 was a 2.3L is wrong. I wouldn't buy it if I were you, sounds to me like the seller is trying to swindle you.

Gage To answer your question though... The 2.3 has more horsepower and torque vs the zetec. 145 hp vs 130. Atx are also beefed up, 2.3 has bigger gas tank

all motor first 2.3l duratecs to hit america was in 2003, they are a much better platform than the zetec, more hp and tq stock and they respond much better to mods due to the restrictive emissions parts
