Kauai Guy It would be a whole lot easier to just swap in a Zetec is its 2g's for an spi. for less then that you could swap in the Zetec by yourself and put a few goodies on it.

Now I better check my fan relays to make sure my fans are still coming on.
At least now we know why these engines drop valve seats. Great info there.

FocusPilot I don't know for sure because when I got the car it had already thrown the rod. I imagine it would be pretty difficult to hear unless you were really listening for it.

FocusPilot 89,000 miles. The previous owner didn't take very good care of it. I'm sure it probably overheated then the valve seat dropped. It has a much more responsible owner now.

2002FocusSE How many miles does this car have on it?

FocusPilot Yes..You can see the number four cylinder is the one that dropped the valve seat then it made its way to number 3 then 2 by way of the intake manifold. The exhaust valves just arent big enough to let it escape. Moral of the story is if you hear rattling in your engine pull the head and get the valve seat out of there BEFORE it destroys your shortblock.

FocusPilot Here are some pics of the engine pull and the inside of the blown spi motor. Enjoy.
