If I recall correctly, some are bolts and some are studs/nuts. Mine were exceptionally stuck. Use lots of penetrating oil, and the proper six-point socket.

Trev FF im doin this swap soon, i bought the svt header, cat and fs werks flex pipe an i had a few questions.

were the bolts holding the header to the block hard to get out? i do not want the ring the heads off those bolts.

can u realize a power/trq difference?

AndrewBigG Just to not to create another "SVT/ST170 header swap thread" will ask on here...

Those guys who did SVT conversions with keeping their OEM Zetec flexi in place and putting a "short" ORP there ... Can you tell what's the precise distance between the SVT header flange and the flexi one when it's all mounted and bolted to the engine?
I'd like use my stock 2.25" flexi and fabricate a short ORP using a short part of my 2.25" cat pipe (including the cat-to-flexi flange). I will need the 3-bolt SVT header-to-cat flange and the 2.5"/2.25" reducer.
Any ideas where I cen get a stainless flange?
I'm thinking about a small 100/200 cells cat to use instead of the ORP too, so need to know what's the exact distance between the header and flexi flanges to find the cat of a proper length.

Looking for the ideas ASAP, as have the st170 header laying around for pretty long time and need it done now ))

svtguy88 I honestly don't recall if there would be a way to make the Zetec dipstick work, but the SVT one is relatively cheap. I'd just pick it up to be safe.

Also, I've done this twice now, and can confirm that the 50 ft roll of DEI is just enough to get the header wrapped. When I did it, I wrapped on tube (without cutting off the roll at all), measured the length I needed, and then cut four lengths of it (the tubes are equal length). That way you don't end up using too much on one tube, and not have enough to finish.

Oh, and the non-titanium wrap (the white or black stuff, not the 'carbon fiber' looking stuff) does not need to be soaked in water to be put on, but I could see how that would help. It does, however, need to get coated in their silicone spray to seal it, otherwise it will let water in. The titanium wrap doesn't need to get sealed.

marcanjelo7 yea i used the svt dipstick.. I did not try to see if it would fit with the zetec's dipstick.

homelessmonkey thanks ill for sure keep that in mind when getting some, and i have to get a svt dipstick cause theres no way to make the zetec fit?

zetecDon Most people use the DEI Titanium header wrap since it doesn't require soaking in water to make it easier to apply. Some people use hose clamps and others have used the stainless steel ties they offer. I used a 50'x2" roll of the Titanium wrap along with the ties. I had barely enough for the header. I had thought about getting another 15' roll and redoing the header, but I figured it's good the way it is.

homelessmonkey ill make sure to be careful when i do bend it and what kinda header tape did you use dei ? or another kind
