Vanquished So check this out.
I was doing 60mph in my Charger RT to see what I could get for mpg. I got 23mpg :(
On the same roads a week later I decided I didn't give a crap about mpg because I was late so I went 75mph the majority of the way and averaged a little over 26mpg...

I think this is mainly due to the charger's MDS system. at 60mph I think it was constantly having to turn on and off to keep the 60mph speed, but at 75mph it was able to remain on (4 cylinder mode) for the majority of the time. This could also be related momentum and all that jazz but it really just goes to show that the slower speed limits (128 is 55mph) aren't beneficial, even for my Charger RT which only has a 5 speed transmission.

LOL Here is SoCal if you're doing 75 in the slow lane, you'll get ran over..

Dennyj1992 Stupid idea. Many people are just going to continue going 70 MPH here in MI.

That's just way too slow, gas saving cars or not.

RonW956 I discovered on my '14 FF Se Hatchback that its MPG sweetspot is around 71-73mph. I can set the cruise control to 72mph and the MPG stills will slowly climb up towards 40mpg..... thank god for Texas highway speed limits of 75mph in my area and the SH-130 is a schweet 85mph legal speed limit...

REVDRX I admittedly drive like a maniac and still average 37 mpg in a 2012 SE. An extra few mpg isn't worth it if it sucks all the fun out of driving.

Naturally we anger some folks who demand everyone break the law and drive like insane maniacs.. But usually we just get to our destination. And Oh look, at 46mpg too.
I hope you only stay on the right! Way too many close calls with people driving slowly on a 65mph zone :(

But dang, that MPG! I'm only at 2300 miles (had the car for a month and a half) and I'm approaching 38. Goal is 40, but I cruise at 69. The roads are much too damaged to drive on the right lanes on the freeways where I am.

sailor That 36.5 was true Hwy miles as mentioned, only a little traffic jam & local driving included.

NO special mods for mileage, I've got SVT suspension/wheels/tires on it & that won't help. The BSD delete is the only mechanical change, no aid at constant Hwy rpm.

Mostly cruise at 70 this year, I tried a tank at 67 on the way to FF11 & got 38 then - dropped to 35 @ 70-75 that year, we had fun driving faster when we could.

Factory PZEV otherwise, even the original air cleaner still.

BTW - I can't QUITE get 30 in town with mixed driving, 29+ is the best when driving conservatively without special mpg tricks.

RonW956 2014 Focus se HB getting 29.9 mpg in Texas where the legal speed limit is 75mph & on the sh-130 that I take its 85mph
