collective2 I got my throttle body on sale at CFM for $179.99. They are also available at escortfocus.com but cost quite a bit more.

How to: BDR Throttle Body

This is a little how-to I wiped up to help those of you install that Throttle Body you just got from CFM. It pretty straight forward, the hardest part being the modification of the cable bracket. I want to apologize in advance. My pictures aren’t the greatest. I have a cheap 5 year old camera and I was taking the pictures myself while working on it as fast as I could in the 105° weather. I also forgot to take a few pictures before completing some steps. But it’s all pretty self explanatory when you’re doing it. Still better than nothing though!

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove your intake tube from the throttle body

3. Disconnect the throttle position sensor cable


4. Using an 8mm socket remove the 4 bolts that hold the throttle body to the intake manifold

5. Remove the throttle body


6. Disconnect the throttle cable and cruise control cable (if applicable)

7. Clean remaining gasket material from the mounting surface of the intake manifold.


8. Remove the throttle position sensor from the stock TB


9. Transfer the throttle position sensor to the BDR throttle body. The sensor fits on at a slight angle. This is normal. Twist to match up the holes.


10. Reuse the original screws for the throttle position sensor. The included M5x.08 socket head cap screws are the same length as the sensor and will not reach the holes to screw into.


11. Use an 8mm socket to remove the throttle cable bracket from the stock TB.

12. Use a vice and hacksaw or bench grinder to notch the throttle cable bracket as shown. You will need to test fit your intake against the bracket to judge the gap you will need.


13. Mark the throttle cable bracket where you’re going to cut it


14. After notching, use a rounded file to smooth the edges, then transfer the bracket to the new TB and secure using the included M6x1.0 cap screws. DO NOT REUSE THE STOCK 8MM SCREWS! They are too long for use in the new TB.

15. Install the new throttle body and reconnect to your intake in the reverse order.




The car feels more powerful on the low-end. It sure does make accelerating much more fun! It also seems to have deepened the sound of my intake and exhaust too. Here is a video of how my car sounds after the install:


I like it. My exhaust is a 2.5" Trubendz Borla with the Magnaflow resonator.

It took me about 3 hours to put in as opposed to the 20min CFM estimated, thanks to having to modify the cable bracket.
