vanace i would suggest getting a 2002 and above. that way you dont have to worry about any recalls on the older models

any year should be fine. The recalls have been done on early models and are just as good as newer ones now. Your best bet is to find one optioned how you like so your comfy with it and have a blast modifying it.

bowersdaazian if you want a good project car, go with the Pzev powered focus'. The extra displacement really helps out for performance, as well as fuel economy. i think they were only made after 2003 though. Im getting an intake and exhaust for mine, and from what i heard, the gains give you almost 160 hp at the crank. Thats around a 15-16 hp gain from just simple bolt ons. just my .02. Good luck with focus.

Focusedat50 I have a 2003 no problems or recalls so far, from what I have heard/read the 2000-2001 had most of the problems and recalls.

Help on model and year

Hey everyone...I was just posting to see if anyone had thoughts on specific model and year as to starting a new project car. I currently drive a contour SVT and would of course like a focus SVT...but i want this just to be a fun little commuter project. I was looking at 2000 ZX3's...and my question is are certain years better than others? Or can i expect the same performance/problems year to year?

Thanks so much and I've been getting no work done seeing what you guys have done to these great cars! Keep up all the great work.
